Jay's fought a war and he's killed when he's had no choice. He doesn't like it and it's not part of his usual rules of engagement.

Note however that sometimes Jay's character is altered when he wears powerful hats. He speaks in Ausgardian when he wears a Donar helmet. When he's got Mr Flay's bowler on...
