Side note: I did notice the server's a little sluggish today. Not sure yet if it's a network or a server issue, but I'll nag Support anyway. Meanwhile, you should use Safari or Firefox, since they don't erase the form after a failed posting.

That's what I was talking about in earlier correspondence when I said I wanted to give the characters a chance to prove their heroism under massively difficult circumstances. I wanted to do a story where they toughed through not because they were powerful but because they were brave and noble.

I kind of like also digging into consequences, too. For quite a while, Lara is going to be shocked that she was able to do that, and maybe a little ashamed, too. She doesn't really want to be one of the most powerful heroes in the Parodyverse, because bitter experience back home showed her that it would also make her the most hunted.

It's quite possible that Lara can only do that reverse-thing when she's absolutely drained herself first, or when she's delerious and close to death. Or there may be negative side effects; the last thing she needs is Miss Peel's voice in her head. It's your call.

That would be more of a psychic phenomenon.

First thing I thought of is that all energy has a "taste" to it, only not perceptible in the traditional way - kind of how different sources of water have different tastes. Energy Lara gets from things like the universe, the sun, magnetic fields, tastes pretty generic, it's like the differences between different cities' tap water - a wide variation, but generally still refreshing and drinkable.

Basically, sucking energy from another person is like drinking "used" water. So basically it's like drinking from a toilet. That may be why she doesn't like to do it.

Note that's also what would make her ill after soaking up Shoggoth energy - it's like drinking poisoned water. Sometimes it might not kill her, but it'll make her really sick for a while.

On the other hand, the other women who are with her aren't above keeping a secret for a friend.

    Quote:
And each has a different way of detecting what Lara did.

Plus Chiaki would be fully willing to take the entire blame if necessary. She's noble like that sometimes.

    Quote:

      Quote:
That said, she is somewhat jealous of Lara's energy projection talents, and might want to try something like that if she had access to something similar. She's most envious that Lara can use energy projections to fly, and to protect others.

Apocalyspian tech tends to have a price.

If there's too much risk of harming anyone else, Anna wouldn't want any part of it. She barely feels in control of what she has already.

    Quote:
I wanted to establish a credible galactic threat, and since Thugos is about the heaviest hitting of the cosmic baddies out there it seemed like the way to go. Thugos is a tyrant and a conqueror but he's not a lunatic. He'll negotiate with other powers and seek statesmanlike solutions - most of the time.

In that case he probably already knows how to speak the Trading Alliance's language - by producing stuff with slave zombie labor that they can sell at a huge profit perhaps.

We'll be covering Lara & Co's time as his guests in a subsequent episode.

Hopefully it's a soon subsequent episode.

I'd expect to cover it in UT#337.

Noted.
