I wonder if Mumph knows how much he and the Hooded Hood are alike, with ruthlessness at least.

Mumphrey would deny it. The Hood might allow it. Their similarities and differences are why I always play encounters between the two as being fairly gloves-off occasions.

Bear in mind that for Mumph even the gramaphone is modern technology so artificial people are classified in that same "modern day innovations" category as all the other things that weren't there in the mid 19th century.

    Quote:
Among people of that age, there are usually three kinds: Those who still embrace new technology, those who fear it, and those who hate it.

I suspect Mumphrey ignores the technology and deals with the person inside it. After all he was the first person to offer Hallie LL membership and the person who prompted her to stop referring to herself as an acronym HALLIE (although Vizh has always called her Hallie).

Mumph might not get too wound up over robot rights per-se but he'd be 100% in the corner of any young gel human or robot who was being treated badly by bounders.

    Quote:
Obviously those who embrace it would side with Anna. Those who fear it wouldn't want to get near her, but might be neutral on what her rights are ("do whatever you want, just keep her away from me"). Those who hate it are most likely to treat all machines with disdain, and think nothing of destroying one, including Anna, because "it's just a machine, there's nothing human about it".

Since Mumph doesn't understand the technology any more than he understands Hagatha's magic or Lisa's legal machinations he simply accepts it and engages with the person behind it.
