The Machine Shop's been quietly setting something up for quite a time now.

    Quote:
Yuki will be angry about that. So will Anna, actually, since it creates a setback to her being accepted as a functional member of society.

The LL will particularly want to keep Anna away from Master Machine. He'd be very interested in dismantling her for whatever upgrades he could reverse engineer, or in placing one of his own loyal AIs into her body. Even if thise weren't possible he'd be pleased to destroy an "Uncle Tom" machine.

If that new weapon stops *genetic* gifts, that indicates it has some other capability that's jamming Yuki's body from communicating with her flesh brain.

Yes. As we'll detail more next time, somebody's gone to the trouble of preparing a package specifically aimed at taking down the members of the Lair Legion, and its based on detailed and classified biometric and technical records.

    Quote:
I wonder if they're missing any of those records. Since this is so widespread it may indeed be Dark Thugos creating a mess again.

Records have been leaked to the government since SR1066 when Amber St Claire was Obedience branded. Records were duplicated and pirated by the Baroness as Citizen Z. Records were freely shared with the heroic Carnifex.

      Quote:
The primary assault was on the DNA link to powers control but somebody took the time to also figure out how to fritz the interface Yuki relies on to control her robot body (it was Rikka Ulz Hagen if that helps; a number of specialists have contributed).

    Quote:
This is where I can emphasize that Yuki's body design has 2 disadvantages that Anna's doesn't: It has to link to a human brain, and it lacks the defensive capability to reset very rapidly in case of failure (in Anna's case the latter was purely a military combat attribute).

There's a wrinkle yet to come though.

    Quote:

      Quote:
What the package did was twofold. As with the anti-mutant treatment it attempted to "rectify" atypical genetic structures; but this also targeted the physical interface that the brain uses to command superpowers. That's why someone with granted powers like Dancer could be affected. It's a specialised lobotomy.

    Quote:
If they've done their research they might realize that cutting just the control mechanism can be *really* bad. Lara doesn't just use the energy, she stores a lot of it - so while she's never lost the control mechanism before, it's possible the energy might all release at once, with disastrous consequences. But then again, because it's never happened before, it could just cause the power to drain away like a camera flash capacitor. Or it could remain trapped in her body like a disconnected battery. Nobody knows for sure, and the risks to find out are high.

We don't know whether there's a specialised anti-Lara technique or how good it is. The simplest one would be to shoot her in the head with a long-range high-range assault rifle. Cheap too.

The problem with fighting Aryan Ideal is that he has pretty much the same powers as Mr Epitome, including a fair bit of super-speed and a virtually indestructible hide. He's not quite as strong as Donar, not quite as dexterous as CSFB!, not quite as combat-trained as Yuki, but not far behind any of them.

    Quote:
Chiaki can probably annoy the hell out of him at least, until she figures out she can cut off the end of his tongue while it's wagging or something.

He's looking forward to having his revenge upon the Legion.

        Quote:
But, since Aryan Ideal is smart, he probably would have incapacitated her first to protect his prime weapon. Probably with simple brute super-strength force, beating the poor android girl until she cries. Then he'd be forced to incapacitate Yuki, because she'd lose her temper and try to take him on herself.

      Quote:

        Quote:
I'm sure he'd enjoy beating her up.

    Quote:
    Anna or Yuki?

Pretty much anyone weaker than himself and especially women. According to Kirk, Aryan Ideal especially likes the strip-search interrogation part of his combats.

        Quote:
Liu Xi Xian is going to freak out when she gets home and realizes that for the time being, not only do the LL want her as a member, but she may be the only *active* member (the rest will likely be placed on leave for a bit) until a solution to the no-more-powers issue is found.

      Quote:

        Quote:
There's more events yet to unfold - and another villain to play his hand.

    Quote:
It seems like this is either related to Dark Thugos, or all the villains met one day and decided to take over the world at once.

In part it;s the natural corollary of the top predator disappearing. Without a Parody Master or Carnifex there's room for others to compete for the top spot.

And as I said before, you'll notice that there's one self-proclaimed archvillain who doesn't seem to have done anything much yet.
