Definitely not, but Anna wasn't commissioned to be an only solution, just a first one.

Then there's the Lair Legion Protocols.

Of course there's a fallback, since Anna isn't a "tried a true" method they would have their own military/political solution too.

Anna is sort of a natural evolution of the current robots used in the military today, and with the same sort of controversy. The primary mission is supposed to be to maintain weapon superiority and save the lives of soldiers. But, of course, some of the higher-ups complain that they can't train the robots personally, or punish them for failing (i.e. no discipline) and that they take the jobs of experienced soldiers.

The only problem is Anna is more expensive than a fighter jet, so unlike most of the throwaway robots in use today, the military expected to get her back in one piece after a mission. That's the first step that led to her being declared a failure - because commanders wouldn't want to send her in if they can't guarantee she'll make it back, and risk discipline for wasting the General's time and money. The second step was when she started thinking too much about her orders - that scares any military type, considering her power. It would be like if Mr. Epitome would have started questioning orders.

Drury's not really failed too much. He did take on the Parody Master one on one in the Parody War, for example, and got 50% of his men out alive. He's fought off Skunks, Skree, demons, etc.

Like in any business, your reputation is only as good as your last *relevant* success or failure. I took a guess that this General had something to do with commissioning contingency programs from Drury that led to Anna, and the planning for neutralizing the Lair Legion if necessary. Since Anna escaped, and Drury's plan is basically in pieces and unusable when it needs to be called upon, he failed. Now the General is taking over with his own plan. At least that's how I see it.

CSFB! doesn't tend to make those distinctions. He likes to have all the toys on the floor at once and he can't see why everybody shouldn't be happy to play together.

Lara wouldn't mind playing, but she also wants the freedom to step away when the Lair Legion gets mired in political problems. And vice versa, too.

It's quite four coloured with Dream.

What's funny about this is, Lara might have taken him up on his offer *before* Dark Thugos dragged her to the Wonderwall. Now she's a little concerned about what the Parodyverse has planned for her and how it'll affect the Lair Legion. For instance if she's thought of as something scary she doesn't want the govt to take down the whole Lair Legion just because she's there.

And now she has the opposite problem to worry about. If she's on the LL roster, she might be the slight tipping point which makes the LL go from just somewhat dangerous and annoying to world class threat in the govt's opinion. Because now, they're lawless, lacking direction, *and* they have a powerful elemental protecting them. Lara knows there's some comfort to the govt and press in maintaining a division between the Lair Legion and herself.

What might be even more scary to the public though is after I post an upcoming mini-story about where Faite has been hiding all this time. After I wrote it, and this story started, I wondered if CSFB! might offer *her* membership in the LL as well (I wonder why he hasn't extended an olive branch to the Hooded Hood too?).
