Now that's funny, CSFB! being his own distraction while he goes and gets the artefact.

It's not like he had anyone else.

He didn't even use anything around him. He *was* the distraction.

I knew Yuki would figure it out. Now the question remains whether she'll torment Killer Shrike for days to come.

I doubt it. Things would likely turn nasty.

One of the problems with mutli-writer universes like this is that if writer A writes writer B's character vs writer C it creates bad feeling because B or C could feel that their character is "punked", shown at a disadvantage. This gets harder still when one of the characters is a villain, since generally sooner or later they have to lose. I've struggled with this evry single time I've used Baron Zemo, Dr Moo, Pierson's Porter, Grim Reaper, Balefire, and many more. Sometimes I get it right.

I knew Killer Shrike will eventually escape - he always does - but I thought Yuki might annoy him a bit first.

I see your point though. I'm pretty easygoing about bad things happening to my characters - Liu Xi has been tortured several times already, and I've used it as an opportunity for her to grow. She starting to look up to stronger people and tried to be more like them so she doesn't have to suffer like she did again. Not everyone is so easygoing though, I'm sure there are writers here who specify everything must be reset at the end status-wise, or their hero/villain must always come out on top somehow.

Even I have a limit, of course. For instance I might object if the columniation of a long plot is the surprise permanent death of Liu Xi, or Lara being officially banished from the Parodyverse, or a more timely example, Killer Shrike's escape being made possibly by his murdering Yuki (which would admittedly provide a good story as the LL pursues, him, but would off one of my most interesting characters).

As it is already people expect me to do damaging things, even though I try not to. My last story posts produced knee-jerk reactions about Hatman and Beth Zemo although there's still plenty of story left. It does get difficult trying to live down that kind of reputation.

And also the big question remains - whether the entire scavenger hunt specified in the contract is a trick that will bring about something horrible. The choice for the Lair Legion being, when they find out what that is, whether to forfeit to save the world and give up the Ghost Taxi Co, or whether to take on whatever happens.

There's doubtless some twist in the tail. Right now I'm having an especially horrible day so I don't feel like writing it.

I had a pretty bad week, that's why I'm a bit behind on The Spirit of De Soth.

btw I tried to think of a decent tie-in but I fear I can't really top that first one with Liu Xi.

      No problem. As you were.

Maybe I'll think of something next post.
