That's where I have to wonder if Vinnie was manipulated into getting the Lair Legion to gather items that the WNC wanted anyway, and either never got around to finding, or couldn't find on their own. I have to wonder if gathering the maguffins somehow changes their contract so they get the Ghost Taxi company anyhow, and Vinnie didn't read carefully.

I do remember that they still have the option to wait until all the objects are gathered, take them, and then kill Nats and take the Taxi Co anyhow. Along with whatever else the maguffins allow them to take.
