I suspect so. It's the kind of change we're seeing now in South Africa, where it'll take generations for the end of apartheid to really seep through all levels of culture and commerce and law.

> > > I have an upcoming post in that topic soon enough. Though generally, Chiaki doesn't leave much evidence either way. A primitive culture like Caph, however, is likely to jump to conclusions about supernatural nature either way. Then they'd have to beware, since Chiaki fights to protect herself (unlike most Caphan females) and she doesn't take well to being insulted by priests.
> > Priests don't take well to Nomead-possessed witches either.
> What's the penalty for an off-world female killing a priest in a fair fight?

Death. For anyone to raise hands to a priest the penalty is death.

> > Pleasure slaves also sometimes settle in-harem disputes with rival women with knife fights.
> First, I should point out that in all these cases the Caphans are either protecting their house or their status within the house. Those Caphan females without a house, as you pointed out in-story, are forbidden to defend themselves, let along challenge a man to a fight.

The Lemans can and do act as bodyguards and are expected to fight. Some are extremely well trained, a few with non-traditional offworld weapons like firearms and robots.

> On those grounds, it might turn into a sticky proposition when Chiaki not only defends herself, but is willing to threaten heavily armed men with high status with harm.

It might. It depends on the situation. If we'd gone on with the Untold Tales story we'd have seen a section by now that illustrates this.

> Liu Xi won't tolerate being kidnapped and sold again.

She's probably not the target. Blondes are very much desired on Caph right now. Fashion Accessory is great at setting trends.
