Even a brief period at that power level leaves its mark and costs its price.

We've had an intimation of how the Scholar might deal with that though, basically through a lobotomy and using her mindless flesh as genetic stock.

She's always had patience. Now she's learned to combine it with long range planning.

We'd best see if all the protagonists survive to the end of the storyline first.
