Reply Subj: It's one of those "that can't be good" moments.

I wonder if Hatty is going to be doing the evaluation, or if that's Yuki's job since she's more neutral to what happened. Of course she doesn't always base her decisions entirely on logic, sometimes she'll give someone some slack because of potential or hardship. That would be good news for Sally. It would also mean Hatty doesn't have to try and do the evaluation part with Sally hitting on him.

I think the LL as a whole will participate in the evaluation; but Yuki's not actually at the Mansion when the new guys return. She's off with Al B. and CSFB! doing some detective work, getting into trouble, and starting up the next story arc.

    Quote:
I bet Liu Xi squirmed quite a bit during that whole accusation about Sally being an accessory to murder. If that's a disqualifying offense, she's probably starting to wonder about herself.

Indeed; although with one exception Liu Xi's killings have generally been in self-defence during combat.

Other Legionnaires have taken lives too, deliberately or inadvertently. ManMan was acquitted of his killing of Exemplary and no-one but the Hooded Hood knows of his other execution. In fact he also killed the Hood once but then he was under external cobntrol.

Of the current line-up, at least Donar, Mumphrey and the Shoggoth have killed their enemies without mercy.

    Quote:
That New Pantheon thing is an interesting development. Especially because he already seems to have invited Lara Night to become a part of it. Fortunate for him that she rejected him, or she probably would have destroyed it from within if she could. More on that in a moment.

    Quote:
Another question, considering who else is invited, is whether Lara's actually powerful enough to become part of that, or if Thugos had other reasons for inviting her - like maybe it's not about power, but connections. Lara is connected to another universe, and also the Lair Legion. Maybe he's seeking balance rather than power.

    Quote:
But then yet another - because if he's adding "defeated" powerful beings to his New Pantheon, that would make Lara the only one he tried to invite who's still independent, and not humiliated. That also makes it harder for him to tempt her, because it's useless to offer her the chance to reclaim her former glory.

Actually, the trap for Lara is that is she goes to the Wonderwall, and especially if she goes at Thugos' bequest, she will "come back changed". Thugos is confident that that "changed" Lara would be willing to join his cadre. He knows something Lara doesn't (or thinks he does). He certainly knows that human concerns and perspectives will seem a lot further away once a person has survived and fully perceived the Wonderwall. The big picture will become more important than individual lives or even indiovidual races.

    Quote:
That would also explain why he hasn't spoken to Faite. Or maybe that would be useless, since she's presumably already seen the wall of wonders, and he wants freshly changed recruits.

The wall transformation is really about making new gods. As for Faire having seen it that would depend. The wonderwall is actually outside the Parodyverse, so any current cosmic being drawing their power from the Parodyverse would actually have to strip themselves of it to get to the wall, leaving themselves vulnerable and open to ambush.

    Quote:
More on independence and destroying the group from within: Back at Lara's home universe, Shema gifted power to a handful of people, but she left them with free will and no stipulations. She trusted the creations of her universe to do what was right and necessary to balance it. It's that trust, plus the balance between all those powerful beings, that keeps things naturally in check. I assumed Thugos will want a lot more control, though, and that could be the fatal flaw of his group, especially if he wants Lara to be a part of it. She's used to having that free will and trust, and if that's not present, she'll rebel and probably encourage everyone else to.

As I say, Thugos' trap is that what comes back from the Wall isn't the same as what goes there. Think of it as a far more extreme version of "prison changes a man" or "I'm not the same as I was before I went to war".
