Quote: Quote: It took Rhiannon and I an hour and a half this afternoon just to find references for all the damn in-story links.Quote: Thank you both in advance. I do enjoy the footnote and reference links, but worry it is burdensome for you. It is. But this is the last one for a while. Took ages to find the story wherein Amazon Isle got moved to block an access to the Parodyverse. Quote: Quote: Tragedy leads to growth. Or dressing up as a bat.Quote: BatAsil? Really, Sam has got this storyline claimed. Quote: Alien abduction lost time?Quote: Wouldn't be the first time either has happened to Al B. *insert hyperlinks here*I'm hyperlinked out, but I think from memory that the poster child case was around UT#297ish. Although maybe that one didn;t have enough... probing. Quote: Like, [Talbot] can actually die? Say with a silver cut to the heart? Or maybe decapitation? Yes, his curse includes ways of destroying him so that he can be damned. Unfortunately, as Tanner says in the story, he wasn't really paying attention to the small print. For a different perspective on this, see Vinnie de Soth and the Bride of the Werewolf, which also features other De Soths. Quote: It's interesting that he gained lycanthropy through a cursed spear and not by another werewolf bite. For ancient means of becoming a werewolf (including diablic pact, enchanted wolfskin, cannibal rite, and feral child upbringing, see Revd Montague Summers' seminal Victorian works The Vampire, His Kith and Kin and The History of Witchcraft. The Curse of the Werewolf isn't just an allegorical way of saying rabies bite infection. Quote: Nice! He's Irish? I never realised that. Perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention. I presumed Scottish or Welsh. I suppose he's really none of those anyway given he predates those labels. Naturalised American now? He's a citizen of the world. I reckon he's probably got half a dozen passports. Quote: Quote: He was once a candidate for fame.Quote: I just can't see him joining the Gothematropolis York School of the Performing Arts, no matter how hard I try. It would be a very different musical. Quote: Quote: I solved it in time, though, so younger-me was clearly playing fair.Quote: Or was he? Oh, I always play fair. It makes destroying one's enemies much more satisfying. Quote: Quote: Quote: - The Hallows. Sword, Cup, Spear and Stone. Hmmm.....Quote: Quote: Have fun working out the Parodyverse analogues.Quote: Well, you footnoted them in the story:Quote: Ah, so I did. Well done, me. Quote: Quote: It's just in my head, unfortunately.Quote: That gives me cause for relief to be honest. Because one bullet could save the world? Quote: Quote: Quote: PS: Is it time for a De Soth family tree? Quote: Quote: I doubt it.Quote: Awww. I might try then, from known sources. Most of it is listed in the Who's Who. Quote: Quote: Because why not?Quote: Because white zippered jumpsuit with the zipper undone, that's why!Noted. Quote: Quote: I'm pretty sure he [Visionary] did that 3D Poser Shoggoth.Quote: I don't think I've seen that one. But we've already established my memory is shot. For some reason it;s not archived on my site, but I remember using a photoshopped cutout version of it in some of the 10th Caphan accompanying arc. It is just possible it came from Dancer, who I think also produced this: Meanwhile I came across this forgotten (by me) Vizh charactern(by Vizh), Garrick's future-daughter: And just to remind me of happy days when Shep was photoshopping garments onto nude models (while steadfastly refusing to pose again herself), here's another long-overlooked minor PVB character: Quote: Happy Birthday Rhiannon. In-story would be easy - just start writing about it. Let the filler 10 years fill itself or not over time about what happened to everyone else. Quote: It would certainly be an interesting way to re-vamp. Not today. Quote: Quote: Some people have written story that by definition post-date where I am in continuity, for example Jason's LL line-up revamp where all his characters join; or else that is an alternate reality.Quote: I'll have to re-read that, I've forgotten it. Was it just Yuki, Chiaki, Keiko and Laura Night with no one else left as members? Now there's a Kooky Quartet! I don't remember. It may have had Anna and some cat girls in it too. And Hat-Man to boss around. Unfortunately it came out at the exact time my attention was most diverted elsewhere and no PVB stuff was really getting through my screens. I remember worrying that the remaining poster community might not go along with the changes and that Jason would be hurt. Quote: Which would make Kara/Cody about 20 as well then. Is Al B. ready for adult kids?I assume they're off at college somewhere (maybe even at college off-planet) during the current UT arc. Quote: I just got side tracked and spent an hour searching for that alternate dystopic future story I wrote where Al B. salvages Hallie into his wristwatch. I couldn't find it, and I know I've searched and found it before. Don't you hate that? I think it was a reply to someone elses story too. Yes, I hate that. It's like there's a horrible retconning force leaking into our reality, slowly conmsuming it. Quote: Quote: He's a barbarian king, she's a sacrificial virgin - together they fight crime!Quote: Sounds interesting! I hope there's a snake person involved somewhere? There's a case to be made that there's no magic in the story; in fact that's one of the debates that might offer means and motive. On the other hand, there's an evil magician and a guy named Abraham who has weird blasphemous ideas about there only being one God. Both are suspects. It also includes possibly my favourite opening sentence: 'Nimrod the Hunter turned round and kicked his high priest into the fire pit.' Quote: Quote: I once had to spend five days going through a manuscript correcting the corrections.Quote: ! This is why people should use track changes. Final proof copies are usually sent as a pdf, requiring sticky notes to be added where changes are to be made. To track changes requires converting the text back to word and ignoring all the end-line markets etc. that Adobe adds in. Even then it's not perfect. It is especially hard to check footnotes. When I got to 300 amendments and was 40% of the way through the book I told the publisher to get it redone or I was pulling it. Even that wasn't as annoying as the time I was asked to write the first story in a planned superhero team series that revived and updated some obscure Golden Age )out of copyright) characters. I agreed to a 10,000 word story, and then the guy sent me his "bible" and plot notes for what he wanted in the story, which weighed in at 6,000 words. I pointed out that there was no way that could translate into a story that short, so we agreed on a 30,000 word novella (half a book). So I did the novella to the approved template but got it sent back for rewrites four times, each requiring major changes. The editor was getting frustrated because I wouldn't "stick to his suggestions". I was getting frustrated because his suggestions didn't work in the story. After about three weeks he went quiet, and then a couple of months after that he admitted that he wasn't going to publish that series after all. I have never wasted so much time writing anything that will never see the light of day for no pay. Quote: Half my stories were replies I'm sure. Speaking of - I did come across some email correspondence from us circa 2009 re: Al B. Harper's family history. Very interesting. Splendid. Proceed. | |||||||
