â€œThere are techniques for resurrection,” the Shoggoth admitted. “Ways to reanimate corpses, ways to exchange bodies, all kinds of things. But humans are designed to work in linear time. They are strange little hybrids of spirit and matter. When they are gone, they are gone. Bringing them back is never complete, never a good idea.”

Not quite true - Ebony has been brought back "by the saltes" on a couple of occasions. But it is difficult and you have to know exactly what you are doing, though - and mortals are not very good at it.

Good point. Then again, the Shoggoth may be simplifying for the agitated human. Or lying.

Perhaps you might want to elucidate on why the SHoggoth actually doesn't resurrect others as he has Ebony.

â€œI would not do such a terrible thing to them,” promised the Shoggoth. “I am not that kind of monster.”

Tasted like chicken.

(The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is probably my favourite Lovecraft story - and I still remember the scenario based on it)

It's a very well written piece.

The gift that keeps on giving? The proceeds from the Vina Drea seem to have gone a long way...

Well, since each of the girls was valued back then at around ten million shekli each and 1 shekli roughly equals £1 there was probably a fair amount of cash to spend. Kaara, who is still technically owned by the Shoggoth until Vaahir buys her, is the most expensive slave in Caphan history (since Ohanna owns herself).

I really need to find time to do some writing...

That would be good.

In the meantime, do you still have the Caphan links page around? Al B. was asking after it in his thread below.
