Subj: It would probably have ended differently, though; "What's that, Lassie? There's poison in the goblet?"

Reply Subj: Yeah, but you could say that about most any story. Hamlet could have used more sheepdogs.

> > One theme I wanted to cover here was that of change. The appearance of the LL has itself become the driver of events in the thirty-two realms, with causes and effects cascading on from that.
> Yes, I liked the introduction, which I thought did a lot to set up the heroic nature of the LL, and it serves as a nice counterpoint to show how much their addition means to this world while the other half of the story shows the affects of their subtraction from their homeworld.

We're going to see more differences before we're finished.

> > More precisely, Cromlyn wants Magweed. She and Griffin are still young enough to be made useful to him.
> Whereas the rest of us are too old and set in our ways?

I think he's more interested in revenge upon the gorwn-ups.

> > I wanted to try and get some swashbuckling in here to keep the feel of the story.
> Recent chapters (including tie-ins) have featured a good deal of swashbuckling to great affect. Always happy to have more from the sky pirates.

It's that 30s pulp fantasy feel.

> > Nice to know that people picked up when things were wrong.
> Well, my first twinge at all was when the Librarian used the mind control device on the natives who were about to attack Amber and Dancer... Mind control in general isn't often used by the good guys, even for benign purposes. Still, it wasn't until later that the alarms really started going off.

I had real problems in this chapter in positioning the segments of the story. The Librarian meets Vizh scene started out at the very beginning of the episode - it was the first scene I wrote. And then it was one of the last scenes I rewrote to accomodate cast shifts.

> > > Vizh was rather blasé about Hallie's memory loss or the whereabouts of his two children, I thought... but it doesn't seem that he had anything more controlling his thoughts than crullers. They are quite good, so perhaps its understandable. Poor Amber, being mentally enslaved again is not going to go over well with her, I'd think (especially after her line in this story showed she's far from over her past experiences.)
> > You might notice that everybody in that group was really "reverting to type", almost being cliches of themselves. It's almost as if someone amongst them was amplifying certain typical quirks and traits to prevent them from being their most effective.
> Interesting... and good to see my reaction, though a bit self-absorbed, wasn't unintentional. I'm not sure if I can do the tie-in I had thought for Vizh and Hallie's reunion under those circumstances, however, so I may just have to wait for another chapter or two.

Yes, I'd love to offer some space for the Vizh/1999 Hallie conversation. I'll make sure there's a chance to slot that in somewhere.

> > > A chilling ending... Looking forward to more!
> > Now I need to work out a way to resolve the situation.
> I'd ask Rhiannon... she seems to have good ideas.

Right now she's busy denying she ever offered assistance in this chapter. It's almost as if she doesn't want the characters to suffer.
