While Katie Holmes didn't bring all that much to it in the first flick, it was a pretty thankless part which mostly had to do with playing holier-than-thou through the movie. It falls into that old hazard for girlfriends not in on the secret identity... there's no good way to keep them sympathetic when they don't know what the hero is going through.
