I think his "world went crazy" when his parents met Joe Chill in Finger Alley.

I don't know if Sam and Chiaki have met yet. Sam was mostly around during the Parody War, when Chiaki was off taking care of business (and avoiding the heavy government presence on the island). If they've met then Sam would certainly be eager to learn whatever Chiaki's offering.

She's probably aware of that from her training with Yuki.
