> > At the very least he may have earned a friend. He might not expect that.
>
> Vinny has learned to expect very little.

Liu Xi would find that sad, but it wouldn't stop her from being cautious.  Plus she's always so uncertain of herself, it would be difficult staying close to someone else who's uncertain - she'd become frustrated by the indecision prevailing between them.

> > The point is that Liu Xi has come a long way from the time when she was supposed to be sold as a bride. Now she's a lot more sceptical, more confident, and much harder to impress. But she still appreciates the effort when it's given.
>
> Vinny is not exactly the Doomherald, really. He makes ManMan look heroic and confident.

Even so, Liu Xi sees through that and appreciates the effort.  She has the rare drive to stop and smell the roses even while being hunted - she appreciates the little things when she can.

> > It sure is, an elementalist being forced to deal with creatures that have no elements.
>
> And it allows her to show her other characteristics beyond power.

Noted.
