This Story follows events put forth in these Stories:
Part 1: Plan B
Part 2: Plans for the Future
Part 3: A New Day at the Moon Public Library

---------------

On the dark side of Earth's Moon in the northern hemisphere. Nestled amid the cratered lunar surface, standing majestically is the circular building known as the Moon Public Library, one of a number of Intergalactic Order of Libraries sanctioned Libraries that dot this sector of space.

There is a matter that has come to the IOL attention. As per IOL Law, when a Library looses it's Librarian the Library & all it's property reverts back to the organization to be given to a new Librarian. But with the MPL they have recently broken away from the Organization. They had allowed this but Law is Law & the High Council of Knowledge, the IOL's ruling body, have sent out a small party of Governors to help in the change over. This of course does not set well will the staff of the MPL.

"D.D., how long until they are here?" A.L.F.RED, the Major Domo of the Library asked the Library's resident A.I.

"Since we had them dock at the furthest concourse from us & we did not set out an vehicle to help transport them, the Governors should be hear in a half hour or so. Given our past interactions with them this should not make the meeting the most pleasant."

"Well, they shouldn't have come anyway. They don't own as anymore."

"Since you & my dad broke away?" David Bookman, the son of the last Librarian asked.

"Yes. The MPL broke away by we are still running under the rules & regulations put forth by the IOL." D.D. replied.

"Most of them." A.L.F.RED interjected. "There were a few bylaws that your father had done away with, mostly since he never followed those ones anyways."

"Should I be here?" David asked nervously.

"Yes. Don't let those little blue buggers intimidate you? Your Father never was." A.L.F.RED replied.

---------------

A half hour or so later, the Library's guest have made their way up to the main level of the Library. Out from the lift system out step a small group of men, all no taller then then three feet tall. All of them had various shades of blue skin. Their hair colors all varied from black to grey to white. Each of them were dressed in the robes befitting their office.

Standing in the front of the group was a angriest looking of the bunch. It looked, at least to David, that Governor was smoking a cigar.

"Thanks for the warm welcome." He said, angrily.

"Just because Master Bookman is no longer with us couldn't mean we'd treat you any differently." A.L.F.RED said with more then a hint of distain to his voice.

"Ah.. Artificial Lifeform Model Red #8694.." the man started to list of model number by A.L.F.RED stopped him.

"I'm the only one here so no need to say my full name."

"Very well, Artificial Lifeform Model Red."

"And you can call me A.L.F.RED."

"I will do no such thing." the man said as he chomped down harder on his cigar.

"Good Ol' Garth." A.L.F.RED said with a slight laugh.

Garth chosen to not to respond said. "I assume you know why I & my fellow Governors are here?"

"Your here to take what isn't yours anymore!" David said.

Garth looked over to where the comment had come from, he didn't recognize who had said it but then said. "Your Lee's son aren't you?"

"Yeah. So?"

"I was wondering if you were A. still alive & B. going to be here in some sad attempt by this Library to keep it from it running."

"As you can see it is." David said as he motioned to the various Library patrons milling about.

"This is only temporary. I've read over your new charter & I've found a number of loop holes in it. One that out legal council can use to their advantage. Plus, you are more a liability to the Library then an asset." Garth said with a cruel smile.

"Your Father was the last in a long line of great Bookmans'. A name that was respected, not just within the IOL but through out the Universe as a whole. But your father screwed up that royally. Not just with your illegal existence but pretty much with everything you see about around."

"Hey! The Moon Public Library is one of the most visited Libraries in the IOL system." D.D. said angrily.

"This might be true. But it's only in part because of the celebrity your former Librarian had garnered with exploits & simply because he was a Bookman. Now that he is gone, I know his body is no longer here but we will find it & have it entombed under the Central Library. I know it doesn't deserve it but IOL Law is IOL Law. He'll be put next to the rest of the Bookman Family." Garth said with another cruel smile.

"I've always found this Libraries rebellion to be slightly funny since because you don't know why your fighting the IOL. You fight because you've been told to. With you two…" Garth said & waved his hand in the direction of A.L.F.RED & the holographic projection of D.D.

"… because it's literally in your programing. Corrupted programing, but programing none the less. I also laugh at the thought that none of you know anything about Lee Bookman that he hadn't already told you. You probably don't even know his real name." Garth said. This time his smile made David's skin crawl.

"It's…" D.D. started to say but Garth stopped her.

"Not Lenard H. Bookman. This is the name He was given by the IOL when he joined our ranks. I was there when he did, I didn't he should have become a Librarian & still feel this but I was overruled. The glory of his father was too much, it clouded the Council's judgment. I winced when they gave him the Bookman name, I knew that he was disgrace it & he had. Almost no one remembers the greatness of the Bookman name before Lee came along. This saddens me, the Bookman name was one of the great names in the IOL & over the life of Lee it was reduced to almost nothing." Garth said.

Then he laughed to himself a bit & A.L.F.RED eked. "What is so funny?"

"I don't think any of you know how old Lee actually was when he died?"

No one answered which made Garth laugh even more.

"This is partly why I don't know why you continue on? The Man behind this whole charade is gone. Without him, You'll not survive a year."

"We've done alright without him before." D.D. shot back.

"Yes. But he was still alive during those times & you knew he'd be back. You knew that all would be right with your world when He got back. But this time is different: He won't be back & he'll never be since he'll soon be buried under the Central Libraries. We might not have him at the moment but at this very moment, The IOL has a search party looking for his body & we will find it. He & by way You are very sentimental so you most likely sent his body away in his beloved Galactibus, a vehicle with a very partial emission trail. One we have tracked before."

David's skins crawls once more.

"Once we have his body back, there will be little you can do to stop us from transferring the Librarian powers from him to the new Librarian of the Moon Public Library."

D.D. opened her mouth to say something but Garth stopped her before she could.

"What? You think we can't do that. Sure, we can. You might of thought that the MPL had broken away from the IOL but you still with us. The only way you could have broken off all ties with us would have been that Lee walked away from here & started up a Library all by him by himself. He could take nothing or anyone with him since everything include you Artificial Lifeform Model Red & that abomination of the Library's Artificial Intelligence are IOL property. You know that you both just a simple process away from not existing."

"Yes." A.L.F.RED said.

"Yes because we've done it before. But you came back why? Because Lee was there but he's not anymore!"

Garth turned to David & says "Don't think I haven't forgotten about you. You may be Lee's Son but you are no Lee Bookman. You can't be since you were never raised as a Bookman. You were raised.. I don't know what or where you were raised but you aren't the second coming of Lee Bookman."

David had been in situations like this before but knew he couldn't react like before. David knew he couldn't kill Garth with their being some serious repercussions.

With a smug look on his face, Garth said "I know I was sent here to take back the Moon Public Library but I won't. Why? I want to see you all fail. Good Day."

Garth then turned around & went back into lift. His other Governors followed him. Once they were all in & as the doors shut, Garth still had that smug look on his face.

After David knew that Garth was out of earshot, He said. "That Jerk!"

"That's Garth from you." A.L.F.RED said.

"Do you think anything he said was true?"

"Some of it. None of us really know who Lee was before me & A.L.F.RED came online. I've tried to search into Lee's past but I can't. All of info on Lee's past is locked. None of my passwords, Lee's passwords or any of my tricks of getting locked have worked." D.D. said somewhat dejected.

"Do you think we'll really fail with out my Dad around?"

"That is yet to be seen." A.L.F.RED said. "But first David: I need you to do something for me."

"What?"

"I need you to go down to Earth."

"Earth?"

"Yes. There is some information I need you to get . I'd go but the IOL would most likely know that I had left the building."

"And since I'm not really in their system I can go as I please."

"Correct."

"Where am I going?"

"The Lair Legion Mansion."
