And until I sat down to write this at 7am yesterday I had no idea that that was the refugees' destination. I was as surprised as Sally.




It occured to me that I have never really written a Silicone Sally-centric story before (except possibly the scenes where she joins the LL). This gave me an opportunity to redress the balance.




I'd have been happy to go into that a bit more had time and word-count allowed. If I'd been doing this run of stories back in the day I would probably have extended each short story to a full-length Untold Tale and packed a lot more in. But since the present storyline will pan out to about 1.8 novels in length anyhow (120,000 words) I think I'd better maintain some discipline.




We probably won't revisit this situation very much (well I won't), but I'll certainly drop a resolution in there.







It would have been easy to write more about the months between the first and second halves of the chapter, as they flee across 14th century Parody Europe dodging the Church of Conformity and its Inquisitors, dining with mad Lady D'Alancon, trading passage from the slippery M'sieur l'Avis, enduring the clockwork insect of Prague etc. And somewhere along the way their personal relationship took some steps forward also.







I'm going back to look at it right now. It will probably be the last chapter I put up before taking a family-mandated break for a couple of days to interact with less-tractible flesh and blood people.
