Lair Legion Living Room Chat 20th January 2007 [Visionary] Heya HH [HH_] Good Evening [Visionary] And, um... in your face for what happened at the Gabbo. [HH_] What's a Gabbo? [AlBHarper] lol [Visionary] I don't know. They serve Mexican food there or something. [AlBHarper] Gabba [Visionary] Gabba. [AlBHarper] Silly Visionary [HH_] What's a Gabba? [AlBHarper] [----gives up on trying to explain cricket to an American [Visionary] It would be so much easier if we all spoke a common language. Like Esperonto. [HH_] Esperanto. [AlBHarper] Not a Gabba. THE Gabba [Visionary] That'd work to. *** Hatman (~Applet@4B3D62B029B228.chatzone.de) has joined. [Visionary] Heya Hatty. *** Hatman has left. [Visionary] Nice chatting with ya. [AlBHarper] As in - the place England lost to Australia. Again. *** Hatman (~Applet@4B3D62B029B228.chatzone.de) has joined. [HH_] Any cricket results you may have heard are nothing more than Antipodean propoganda. [Visionary] Heya again Hatty. [Hatman] Again? [AlBHarper] [----I was there - I saw England lose with mine own eyes [AlBHarper] Hatman! [HH_] Well, to be honest we deserved to lose. [Hatman] What's up? [HH_] The Aussie's didn't deserve to win, but... [AlBHarper] Heh [AlBHarper] We are debating Canada's place in the international community. [Visionary] Apparently the English and the Australians credit the creation of "the wave" at sporting events to Mexico. [HH_] Credit may not be the term [AlBHarper] Well, we call it the Mexican Wave [Hatman] Canada's place is that of an iron-fisted ruler...you just don't know it yet [HH_] Are you sure you;re not mixing it up with Candia? [Visionary] Even if it was really invented in Canada and common throughout North America for half a decade before some silly soccer game in Mexico. [AlBHarper] And, as I said to Visi already, they tried to ban the wave - but it didn't work. I love revolution. [Visionary] Really, only Americans are allowed to get credit for Canadian work. [AlBHarper] So we should be calling it the Candian Wave? [HH_] That would please Comrade Borin. [Hatman] We invented the wave? Good for us [AlBHarper] Hey, you're all a part of NAFTA now, why can't the Mexican's get some stolen credit for once? [Hatman] The Glorious People's Wave of Candia [Visionary] Accidentally, according to wikipedia. [Visionary] I figure you all politely got up to let someone out of the row. [AlBHarper] Heh [Hatman] Well yeah; you don't get in the way of a hockey fan on their way to get beer [Visionary] Americans later did it on purpose at a baseball game. 'Cause you have to make your own entertainment at those. *** killer_shrike (~Applet@BD6AAFE32C613B.chatzone.de) has joined. [HH_] Good job on the Gary story, Jay. [Visionary] Heya KS [killer_shrike] Howdy [AlBHarper] G'day [HH_] I'll have to find a way to weave that in by UT#306. [Visionary] Yes, an excellent Gary chapter. [HH_] Good evening [Hatman] Hey Mike [Hatman] Thanks (in regards to Gary) [AlBHarper] Yes, good work with Gary, and nice Xatroc chapter too from ks. [Visionary] Indeed. I love a good Xatroc chapter. [Visionary] And the Untold Tales issue was top notch as well. [Visionary] As was the nekkid Amy chapter. [HH_] It's not really notched yet. We're only starting. [killer_shrike] I can't stay too long, as I'm taking my hosts out to dinner [Visionary] They all need to be followed up upon ASAP. [HH_] We're probably on 25% of the way in. [Visionary] Where you going to dinner? [AlBHarper] To a meal of Muffalata? [Hatman] I'm hoping to finish up the Gary storyline within a few days [Visionary] Excellent. I'm ready for the next 74% [Hatman] Though if I don't write tonight it won't be until next week, as I'm tied up all week-end [killer_shrike] Mexican food [Visionary] Er... 75%, [Visionary] I can probably handle that last 1% after all. [HH_] I thought perhaps you were dreading the ladt 1% [HH_] last [Visionary] Try taking them to the Gabbo. [AlBHarper] Kara Harper laughs at Visonary's maths ability - or lack thereof [killer_shrike] And I have read the latest UT, so don't worry about spoilers [Hatman] I didn't know you feared the footnotes Vizh [AlBHarper] GabbA Visionary [AlBHarper] with an A [Hatman] I have also read it, but I came here before commenting [AlBHarper] Short for Wollongabba [HH_] The last few paragraphs are a bit of a cliffhanger. Again. [Visionary] Always with the cliff hanging. [AlBHarper] I have read and commented. ha! [HH_] Al and Vizh are Good. [Visionary] I, too, have fulfilled my commenting obligations. [Hatman] I started to comment but I was having java problems so I switched computers [killer_shrike] I'll comment after a second read [Visionary] So I just got an e-mail from my high school girlfriend. Haven't heard from her since my Freshman year of college. [HH_] It feels like a very short piece of work; and yet that's how long Untold Tales used to be. [Hatman] What did she have to say Vizh? [Visionary] You need to give up on the idea that a normal sized chapter is that small. [killer_shrike] champagne track her down for you? [AlBHarper] Oh? And...what was she saying? "Where's all the money for that kid you left me with?" [Visionary] Heh. [Visionary] I wandered to one of those classmate websites and filled out the survey. [HH_] I avoid those quite hard. [Visionary] I didn't want to pay for the "gold membership", so it didn't let me do much other than peruse whomever else had been there. [killer_shrike] My twentieth HS reunion is next year. *Sigh* [Visionary] But I looked her up, and apparently it told her that I had dropped by her listing and she wrote to me. [AlBHarper] Oh yeah, I did that too once, and got an email from a girl i went to primary school with - I never replied. [HH_] Everyone I was at school with is either running a multinational or has their own country by now. [Visionary] Hmmm... Pretty good school. [AlBHarper] Ian went to school with Richard Brandson and the Queen. [Hatman] I've only been out of high school for 5 or 6 years [Visionary] Anyway, it was kind of nice to know she actually *wanted* to hear from me. [killer_shrike] Quiet, you [Visionary] I think she's married and living out of the country now. [HH_] Actually, the golfer Colin Montgomery was in my class. [killer_shrike] The choker? [Hatman] Really? He's the golfer I always choose when I play Tiger Woods [HH_] I've played against him. I lost. [Hatman] The video game, not a game with the real Tiger [HH_] But I like to think i taghut him valuable lessons about not getting psyched out by the opposition. [killer_shrike] Play him on an American course. You'll do fine. [Visionary] Anyway, i have no desire to attend a high school reunion. But it was nice hearing from Patricia. [HH_] is she still single? [Hatman] Most of the people I want to talk to from high school I still do, so a reunion doesn't interest me at all [killer_shrike] Yeah, I've never been to one, and never intend too. College either. [Visionary] As I said above, I think she's married and living out of the country. [HH_] I missed that line. [Hatman] Though a girl I was friends with has one of my Degrassi Jr. High DVDs and I really want it back [Visionary] I can't tell for sure, because without paying for the "gold membership" it only lets me read 2 lines of her autobiography. [Visionary] But she mentioned that she doesn't get back home much since she's no longer living stateside. [Visionary] And she has a new last name. [HH_] Shame. [Hatman] Maybe she's just on the lam? [AlBHarper] I've lost touch with everyone from High School. [HH_] Mind you, the last time I saw the first girl I dated she'd put on about six stone [Visionary] I was an athlete in high school. I'm not one now. [Visionary] So I'd have no right to complain. [HH_] Don;t tell Shep. Not if you value breathing without wheezing. [Hatman] I saw my first girlfriend last year...I pretended I didn't notice her and bolted (she phone-stalked me after I broke up with her) [Visionary] *Remembers to wrap up the leftover pizza.* [Visionary] I can't tell Shep. My e-mail won't let me. [Visionary] I can see why that might make for an awkward moment. [AlBHarper] Lol - you are all crazy [AlBHarper] But in a good way [HH_] if I haven't heard back from her I'll call her tomorrow. [Visionary] It's gotta be a problem on my end. [AlBHarper] Tell her we say "g'day" [Visionary] Indeed. [HH_] I meant to do that today but I forgot in all the excitement of the caterpillar cake. [Visionary] How was the birthday? [HH_] Mostly peaceful. [Hatman] No screaming and giggling pre-teens? [AlBHarper] Caterpilla Cake! Sounds crunchy. [HH_] We still have a little dispute about Rhiannon insisting on being a teenager this year. [Visionary] She's 13 now. That's a bonafide teen. [Hatman] Which leads me straight to the thought "I hope Kirk wasn't around" [Hatman] But most of her friends will most likely still be pre-teens [killer_shrike] Can't you say she 11 in metric years? [killer_shrike] she's 11, that is? [HH_] I don;t really believe in the metric system. [Hatman] What do you have against the metric system? [Visionary] It exists. I've seen the markings on groceries. [HH_] They tried to convert Alex to metric when he was born. ininsisted they record his statsitics in pounds and ounces and inches. [AlBHarper] Shocking! [HH_] It's a Napoeonic invention foisted on Britian by the European Union, and doesn't have the charm of guineas and furlongs [Visionary] I admit, I'm pretty awful at all measurements not in miles, yards, feet, inches or pounds. [HH_] Napoleonic [AlBHarper] [-----is all metric [Visionary] I always need someone to remind me how many ounces make up something. [Visionary] And forget liquid measurements. [HH_] Until I was 9 we had twelve pennies to the shilling and twenty shillings to the pound. [Hatman] I got depressed while driving through the US when I saw a road sign said "250 - Grand Forks"...in Canada that'd be 2 and a half hours...in the States it's more like 4 [Visionary] Depends on how fast you drive. [Hatman] I use a mix of imperial and metric measurements myself [Visionary] And now? How many pennies to the shilling? [HH_] We don't have shillings. 100 pence to the pound, same as cents to the dollar. [Visionary] 'Cause that last method seems very random for money. [AlBHarper] I saw a sign on the back of a truck the other day "stay at least X feet back" and had no idea how far back I should stay. Silly out-of-date measurements. [AlBHarper] You should all convert. [HH_] We had four fathings or two ha'pennies to the penny, three pennies to the thuppence, two thruppences to the sispence, two sixpences to the shilling... [Visionary] See, feet make sense. How tall is a man? Usually somewhere around 6 feet. [Visionary] What's that in meters? [HH_] Two and a half shillings to the half crown, two half-crowns to the crown... [Hatman] Or "yay high" is also an acceptable measurement, albeit easier to convey in person [AlBHarper] 1.6 or so I think [Hatman] That sounds right Al [Visionary] See, 1.6 sucks. That's not a human scale. [HH_] a metre is roughtly three feet. [AlBHarper] Actually, we use feet a lot for people's heights still... [Hatman] Same here [Hatman] Same for weight [AlBHarper] And usually centimetres [Visionary] You weigh people in feet? [Visionary] Taht's just scary. [Hatman] Ours in an advanced science [Hatman] is an [AlBHarper] IAnd they use REAL feet in the scales to do so). [HH_] How's the Miiri story coming, Vizh? [Visionary] Um... have you written any more scenes for it? [Visionary] 'Cause if not, about how it was last time. [AlBHarper] heh [HH_] Noted. [Visionary] But I have faith it'll start writing itself this weekend. [AlBHarper] Has it progressed past "Miiri returned to the Parodyverse" [AlBHarper] ? [Visionary] Before the lure of writing Hallie/Marie scenes and stuff take over. [Visionary] It's progressed through 5 different starts. [AlBHarper] And we need to bug Kirk about the wedding of the year.. [Visionary] I *am* sad to lose the following though... [HH_] That was the wedding of last year. [Hatman] I'd say wedding of the season but we're already into its 2nd... [AlBHarper] We were supposed to have the feel-good wedding BEFORE the nasty death [Visionary] George Gedney covered his mouth as his cheeks puffed out. "Ugh...I think may be sick" he noted considerately. [Visionary] Ruby Weaver pulled away from him. "Not on my good hiking shoes, you're not!" she insisted. [Visionary] "Hey, wait... My good hiking shoes! My designer jeans! My Victoria's Secret push up bra! I'm no longer dressed like some gypsy tramp!" [Visionary] "Well, no longer like a gypsy one, anyway" Trickshot observed. [AlBHarper] Heh. [Hatman] Ah, that Tricky is a smooth operator [HH_] And this isn't included because...? [AlBHarper] It's the secret Visionary Chapter Chat Only issue! [Visionary] None of them are in the story any longer. [Visionary] I ditched the actual "return" scene as unnecessary. [HH_] I hope they make the extended DVD then. [AlBHarper] And the 4 of us are the only ones who have read it! [AlBHarper] Go us! [Hatman] I'm scared to leave now in case I miss more secret goodies [Hatman] But unfortunately leave I must; my Youth Group awaits [Hatman] Have a good night everyone! [AlBHarper] You could always post it as a "what we never saw" kind of thing [killer_shrike] Talk to you later Jay [Visionary] Reply to UT soon! I need the next chapter! [HH_] They're helping you write the Gary story? [AlBHarper] See ya later Hatman. [Visionary] Later Jay. [Hatman] I was thinking I'd get them to reply at least to combat your family boosting your replies... [HH_] Good call. [Hatman] I will reply when I get home. I want the next part too! [Visionary] Excellent. [Hatman] Night *** Hatman has left. [HH_] But my tragic lack of secretarial support just now means I have to use drastic measures. [Visionary] Google things yourself? [HH_] I did get a very nice Christmas card from Anita though. [AlBHarper] Make your own tea? [HH_] It has a picture of her on the front. [Visionary] I'm glad. How did the other one do at that Club Med for swinging singles? [HH_] She said it would make a nice change from Jesus and shepherds and things. [HH_] It says much about her that she had these cards printed. [Visionary] I hate getting Jesus'ed out at Christmas. [AlBHarper] Although, it's harder to find Jesus on a Christmas card these days. [HH_] I never heard the lurid stories of Zania's debauchment, I'm afraid. [Visionary] What was she wearing on the card? [AlBHarper] Or what wasn't she wearing? [HH_] It was a head and shoulders shot. Very artistic. No vest showed. [Visionary] It's nice that she managed to keep the stories from the papers. [HH_] Zania did complain that she had problems at customs, which she put down to being Arab-looking. [killer_shrike] Well, time to head out. Have a good night all. [HH_] Good night. [AlBHarper] See ya shrike [AlBHarper] enjoy the tacos *** killer_shrike has left. [AlBHarper] Last time I went to Europe, I found Customs decidedly lax, after some of the other places I frequent. [HH_] We may need a new topic. [AlBHarper] We could always go back to the Cricket? [AlBHarper] I always enjoy talking about England losing... [HH_] The tightest securioty I ever faced was in Egypt. That was even worse than Communist-era East germany. [AlBHarper] Australian security is all about fruit. [HH_] Al, you're confusing me for somebody who doesn't wreak horrible revenge. [Visionary] Whoops... missed shrike's exit. [Visionary] Sorry, I was putting away the leftover pizza. [AlBHarper] Got drugs? No problem - but if you try and bring that banana in, we'll blow you up! [AlBHarper] For tomorrow's breakfast Visionary? [Visionary] Indeed. [HH_] the whole of the Hellraisers arc was in response to a change faul pas by Vizh regarding head gear on my Autorecorderbot. [Visionary] So about Marie in Untold Tales... [AlBHarper] Heh, I can see HH plotting the downfall of the Aussie cricket team as we type. [HH_] chance [HH_] faux [HH_] I so miss people to type for me. [AlBHarper] heh [HH_] Maybe I'll go wake Sal up. [AlBHarper] But a change faul pas would have been a brilliant move on the V-man's part. [Visionary] Does she know the Legion? I mean, does Marie recognize them and know who they are? [Visionary] Or does she just sorta feel a connection to them? [HH_] Check my response to your reply. [AlBHarper] She knew who Lisa was to know she was dead. [Visionary] You responded already? Nice. [HH_] I'm efficient. [Visionary] Go ahead and add to that Miiri story while we chat then. [AlBHarper] See, you don't require a secretary [HH_] I already did my bits of the Miiri story. Now it's down to the Diller talent bank. [HH_] I have my own insoluable writing problems to untangle. [AlBHarper] Yes, Adam, it's time for you to play with Miiri's bits... [Visionary] Nifty news in the reply [AlBHarper] Err... [HH_] There is? [Visionary] About Marie/Hallie. [AlBHarper] About Yo not being the next one to die [AlBHarper] Or Dancer [AlBHarper] Or Mumph [AlBHarper] Those are my three guesses by the way [HH_] You'll know by the end of UT#301. [Visionary] It was nice knowing you Al. [HH_] Well, fairly nice. [Visionary] We'll send someone round to feed the Bonsai Kittens. [AlBHarper] I expect a lavish funeral [HH_] Despite the whole cricket disinformation thing. [Visionary] Burial at, um... void/vortex is very honorable. [AlBHarper] With replays of the latest Ashes Test. [AlBHarper] Bah, Burial at void/vortex is what everyone is doing, [HH_] I don't think there even is such a place as Woolloongabba [HH_] That is so obviously a made up name [Visionary] It sounds fishy to me. And not a bit Mexican. [AlBHarper] It's an Aboriginal name [Visionary] But we're supposed to be sledgy towards you. [AlBHarper] Like a lot of Brisbane suburbs [AlBHarper] Indooropilly, Gebung, Capalaba, and so on [Visionary] Are you sure they didn't just play a trick on your settlers? [AlBHarper] I think Woolloongabba means "place of water holes" or something [HH_] Not according to many British sources today. [HH_] No "water" in the translation *** champagne (~Applet@C87E38C7D0294E.chatzone.de) has joined. [AlBHarper] Today it means "place of English loss" [champagne] Hi? [AlBHarper] Not much water - we are in a drought after all. [Visionary] Heya [HH_] Good evening. [Visionary] How's things? [AlBHarper] It's Champagne! [champagne] ok, thanks [HH_] Good evening. Nice to meet you. [champagne] you too. great story [Visionary] That's true... you've just been present in autorecorder form before. [champagne] even though i dont understand whats going on it still had me hooked [Visionary] She's quite the sport. [HH_] I'm glad you;re making the attempt. [AlBHarper] she probably knows where you live, what you had for breakfast, that sort of thing [champagne] it took me a while but I worked most of it out now [HH_] I doubt she knows what I had for breakfast. I skipped breakfast. [Visionary] I hope that's in response to the story, and not what we had for breakfast. [Visionary] Al had cold pizza. [champagne] lol [Visionary] I probably shouldn't know that. [champagne] it took me a while to work out that Lisa was a real person [HH_] Se certainly seems to be [Visionary] Ah, yes. She was a poster who named her character after herself. [AlBHarper] Visionary is a stalker-lite [Visionary] Not that she didn't have imagination or anything. [champagne] i know that now. I think I found her. [Visionary] Really? Where? [AlBHarper] Heh, champagne tracked another one down. [HH_] What a very Christmassy colour scheme we have going here. [Visionary] I like it. [Visionary] We're a festive bunch. [AlBHarper] All we need are presents [champagne] [redacted] State Route 58 South Oberlin, OH 44074 [champagne] Phone: (440) 774-[redacted] [Visionary] Yikes. Although I don't recognize the phone number. [HH_] Urk. [AlBHarper] Do you work for the CIA or somesuch? [champagne] That's her work number [HH_] Okay. [AlBHarper] Champagne says "she's there now, I see her on the cameras" [Visionary] Probably not any more. [champagne] Sorry. I'm going over the line again [HH_] I'm fascinated. [Visionary] That's okay. She was publically listed because she was a practicing attorney, and in the yellow pages anyway. *** Messenger (~Applet@AED4BCD4845FFA.chatzone.de) has joined. [Visionary] Heya Messy. [AlBHarper] No no, it's ok...just return Visionary's pizza to the fridge, he was wanting that for breakfast [chasenger] Hey [HH_] Good evening [AlBHarper] Hi there [chasenger] Howdy [champagne] hi there [AlBHarper] Is this 1999 Messy or 2007 ? [Visionary] She was recently staff attorney for a common pleas court, but that ended with the new year. [Visionary] Nice job on the new story, Messy! [HH_] By the way, I tracked down that Blackmore's Night album [AlBHarper] Yes, an fascinating idea. Look forward to seeing where you take it [Visionary] Ah... did you like it? [chasenger] er... 1975 Messy complete with bell-bottoms and bangs [champagne] the music from your story? that was cool [chasenger] Thanks guys [HH_] Yes. I'm listening to it now. [chasenger] Sorry if Im slow responding [Visionary] I don't know if I have any more tracks from taht specific album... [AlBHarper] Ah-ha! We have worked out the way to HH is via Visionary's taste in music! *files that away* [HH_] Don;t worry, Messy. It;ll give Champagne more time to cyber-stalk you. [champagne] hey. I'm being good! [champagne] fairly good [AlBHarper] Yes, she hasn't actually live-stalked any of us yet [AlBHarper] that we know of. [Visionary] Beat me too it. [champagne] she? I never said she [Visionary] According to i-Tunes, the only other one I have from that album is Old Mill Inn. [chasenger] Im on a laptop and were barbecuing. New Macbook... my first Mac [HH_] Indeed [AlBHarper] Unless she was Hatman's ex... [AlBHarper] He then [Visionary] I know you never have, but I need to go with one or the other for convenience's sake. [AlBHarper] Or it? [Visionary] Because I'm lazy. [champagne] 'She' is okay, I guess [Visionary] I called Yo "He" for a month before finding out that she's a lovely young woman from Spain. [champagne] cool [champagne] I love Spain [Visionary] And Yo, to this day, is still "he" to me. [Visionary] He's very understanding about it. [HH_] It makes writing Vizh and Yo's conversations that bit more challenging [chasenger] ah so *SPOILER* is dead, HH? I just finished your 300th issue [Visionary] I've never been. I've only been to Canada and the Us. [HH_] Indeed. [Visionary] Everyone here has read the story, Messy. You can be spoiler free. [AlBHarper] Yes, SPOIL away [champagne] she's been around a long time. She was in some really early stories [Visionary] Yes... she was one of the original posters. [AlBHarper] Now, only Visionary is left. [AlBHarper] And Donar [AlBHarper] And Messenger [AlBHarper] And yo [chasenger] oh okay. Well, I for one will miss the cool whip then [AlBHarper] And sometimes NTU [champagne] she was also moderator on comic-book message board [Visionary] I wasn't technically an original. I came about a week later. [AlBHarper] And sometimes spiffy [AlBHarper] Actually, who has left? [HH_] Jarvis. Zemo. Banjoooo [AlBHarper] They all keep coming back. [chasenger] DK, Goldeneyed and Finny are still around lurking [Visionary] Indeed... It was on that message board that the whole Parodyverse things started, back in September of 1998. [HH_] Starseed [AlBHarper] Like dogs to their own vomit. [champagne] eew [Visionary] Shaper. [AlBHarper] Well, except Starseed, and Jarvis and Shaper. [AlBHarper] They remain gone. [chasenger] Shaper... Its weird how he just disappeared one day. [champagne] it wasn't me. [Visionary] GE was a later poster. [AlBHarper] Isn't Zemo...still around? Kinda? [chasenger] Hey does anyone remember exactly how Jarvis died? [chasenger] For research in the story [HH_] Not that I'm aware. [chasenger] I know it has something to do with aliens [HH_] Hold on while I look up the link... [chasenger] ok thanks [AlBHarper] Untold Tales 0 is related to Jarvis' death [Visionary] I really thought you were going to pull up a picture of the real Lisa, champagne. [chasenger] oh alright. Thanks Al [champagne] Jarvis? [Visionary] A few people have managed to find it. [champagne] i havent looked for one. Should I? *** YourName (~Applet@E11433681D878D.chatzone.de) has joined. [AlBHarper] Between UT 17 and 18 [Visionary] Not on my account. I've seen it. *** YourName is now known as Nats_ [chasenger] Nats [Visionary] Heya Nats [Nats_] Hey, everybody! [AlBHarper] G'day [chasenger] Hey Dr Nick1 [Nats_] I promise I sort of actually contribute to the chat this time. [Nats_] That wasn't grammar, no. [AlBHarper] Nats is the neo-Yo [Visionary] Not so you'd notice, certainly. [chasenger] No... Nats is the neo-spiffy. [champagne] hello Nats [Nats_] spiffy is the Proto-me, dammit. [chasenger] Heh [AlBHarper] Ham-Boy is the neo-nats [HH_] I can't find the actual death. The issue before it is http://www.chillwater.plus.com/HH/archive/others/1999/jarvis%20origin.htm [chasenger] Ham who? [Visionary] Champagne is a new poster, to go along with the new year. [chasenger] Thanks Hood [AlBHarper] Ham Boy is one of the former Junior LL's. [champagne] we met before, Nats. Bill. [Nats_] Yes. Sort of. Hi. [AlBHarper] I think he was the only one who graduated, apart from Glory. [HH_] That sets up the situation where Jarv has to sacrifice his life to stop the extradimensional Nebulus race [Nats_] I still owe a PV story. Because Messy has posted one. And he challenged me for one. A year or two ago. [chasenger] Thats right! [Visionary] Indeed. Although spiffy might have graduated. Or just dropped out. [chasenger] Good man for remembering [AlBHarper] Let the challenge continue! [champagne] you wrote lots, Nats. theres a whole website *** CSFB (~Applet@386396F97E51C7.chatzone.de) has joined. [Nats_] I did. And all my major stuff is unfinished. [AlBHarper] spiffy should have been expelled. [Visionary] Messy still owes me the second half of that CSFB tag team story. [CSFB] hi [AlBHarper] G'day [chasenger] So does anyone have any requests/continuity reminders for this 1999 story [champagne] hi Kirk [Visionary] Speaking of which, heya... [Nats_] And all my earliest stuff is poop. And my latest stuff that none of you have seen. [chasenger] Gah... [HH_] Good evening [chasenger] Ill do that when you do the rest of Happiness, Vizh [champagne] I never said i read it [CSFB] floating between awake and asleep [chasenger] Hey csfb [AlBHarper] An interesting state, the floating part in particular. [CSFB] i'm astonished at the hate that lazytown generated [Visionary] Heh. I didn't hate it. [Nats_] Have you seen all the Lazytown YTMNDs, Kirkus? [AlBHarper] hate is too strong a word. [Visionary] I was just creeped out by the puppets. And the guy. And the teengirl. [chasenger] uhh... [CSFB] nats - all of which are even more extreme in promoting the "pedo 4 steph!!!!" idea that i suggested, yes [HH_] I could perhaps repost my original Who's Who, which dated from near then. [Visionary] I did like the Fred Perry animation to that pirate song, though... [chasenger] That would be great actually Ian [Visionary] (Is that his name? The "Gold Diggers" guy?) [CSFB] which guy creeped you out, tho, vizh? [Nats_] Remember when I was going to write a What's What? Neither do I. [CSFB] yes, vizh [HH_] It's very primitive [Visionary] The hero guy. I kinda liked the villain. [Nats_] Hell, I still owe the fifth daily chapter of my League of Improbable Gentlemen serial. From two or three years back. [chasenger] Its okay. It would refer to stuff at the time. [CSFB] robbie rotten is fucking awesome [champagne] why aren't you writing more now, Bill? [Nats_] And Nats #0. And Nats to the Future. [CSFB] lazy, junk food eating, costume-wearing ... he's living the dream [chasenger] You still need to bring back Enigma [Nats_] I have many classes and I am lazy. [Nats_] I do. [AlBHarper] My brother is here, I have to go. [HH_] Bill is now in big school [chasenger] Later Al, [Visionary] Ah... Later Al! [chasenger] Good talking to you [champagne] Bye Al [Nats_] But to force myself into stuff, I have started a daily comics column. [CSFB] bye al [AlBHarper] I might record for a bit though, this looks like an interesting chat. [Nats_] Laterz. [AlBHarper] Later!! *** AlBHarper is now known as AlBHarper-autobot [HH_] Good eveing, Al [Visionary] *puts a hat on the Harperbot* [Visionary] He'd be disappointed if I didn't. [Nats_] '365 Reasons to Love Comics' is now on day 19 and hasn't missed one yet. [CSFB] i'm continuing to follow omg_adultswim on livejournal [Nats_] And can be found at http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com [champagne] You all read comics? [CSFB] the manager from dethklok is now dr. venture's boyfriend [Visionary] I used to. I still read the occasional graphic novel. [HH_] Either now or in the past. [Nats_] I read a buttload of comics now. Well, relative to how many I used to. [champagne] I was never allowed to read them [Visionary] And look how you turned out. [CSFB] it's funny seeing myron reducto react to the monarch, as each accuses the other of being crazy [HH_] A lesson to us all [chasenger] BBQ's about ready. If this chat;s still happening in around an hour and change I;ll be back [Nats_] My parents adored the fact that I showed an interest in reading, and showered me with the things. And now I'm an English major and trying to break into the comics industry. So. [Visionary] Forced to delve into the dark corners of the internet for entertainment... [champagne] ooh, barbeque [Visionary] Later Messy. [CSFB] bye mess [HH_] farewell [Visionary] So the programming team for our video game sent us a big package of smoked meat this week. *** Messenger has left. [Visionary] No particular reason. Just a box of meat and barbeque sauce. [champagne] your video game? [CSFB] heh ... great message. "as your thanks, you get to eat our meat" [Visionary] I work for an entertainment company making video games and movies. [CSFB] somewhat passive aggressive [HH_] Vizh doesn't actually star in them, you understand [Visionary] You can apparently go rent "Danika" starring Marissa Tomei right now if you like. We made that one. [champagne] he's very talented [Visionary] I still haven't seen it. [HH_] Do you get a percentage of the gross? [CSFB] marissa tomei? didn't her 15 minutes end, like, a decade ago? [Visionary] Oddly enough, I've seen "Dark Ride", our horror film twice... one early cut, and once in theaters. [champagne] I have some questions about the parodyverse if you dont mind [Visionary] Sadly, no. [HH_] Go ahead. [Visionary] Shoot away. [Nats_] I'll write and direct a movie for you. And I'll do it on the cheap. [Nats_] You can pay me in White Castle if you wish. [Visionary] That is cheap. [CSFB] as long as you people aren't responsible for yet another of the remakes of horror films from the '70s and '80s [Nats_] (Speaking of which, I may travel across state lines for some White Castle tomorrow. Mmm.) [champagne] if I did a story that had a Parodyverse charactter in it, which one would it be okay to use? [Visionary] You're welcome to use any of mine. [HH_] Pretty much all of them, i'd say [HH_] Or were you looking for something specific? [champagne] I don't really know [Visionary] Most people aren't too possessive. It's usually flattering to show up in another person's stories. [CSFB] what would you use the characters for? as long as you're not god-nodding .... [CSFB] god-Modding, should say [champagne] I dont know what that is [Visionary] If you need a specific role filled, we might be able to suggest someone specific. [HH_] Hero or villain or just cameo guest star? [Visionary] I think it's that internet speak he does now and again. [champagne] should I Google it? [CSFB] from roleplaying - god-modding = imposing drastic changes or out of character portrayals on a character w/out prior consent [Visionary] I dunno... it's a CSFB term... could be safe, but still... [HH_] Depends if you want to end up on an Icelandic porn site [Visionary] You can impose drastic changes on my characters if you like. They bounce back easy. [CSFB] lazytown is apparently a big part of the icelandic economy these days [champagne] I don't think I'd do that. [champagne] I don't want to upset people [CSFB] didn't think you would, but it doesn't hurt to say [Visionary] I'm not surprised, from what it costs. [champagne] I do that sometimes [CSFB] 40 percent of it is still fishing-based [Nats_] You can kill all my characters off. Unless Ian beat you to it. I haven't been around much. [HH_] Isn't the Icelandic currency the Herring? [Visionary] He pretty much did. [Visionary] But you got a nice afterlife in hell. [HH_] They're only wounded [Visionary] Though still in hell. [Nats_] That's cool. [CSFB] i think it's the same as the rest of the european union ... what's the abbreviation ... oh, yeah, the "homo" [CSFB] "the european union, or namble, or short ..." [HH_] It's certainly shafting the dollar right now [champagne] its hard to know where to start [CSFB] not our fault that our president is such a retard that he can't even take the advice of the people he pays to do all his thinking for him ... [HH_] Don't feel obliged. Your stories are quite charming as they are. [HH_] but if you;d like a guest star, go ahead [CSFB] past a certain point, it actually takes MORE effort to fuck up than to NOT fuck up [Visionary] Indeed. Would we have permission to add champagne to a story? [HH_] And if you want to discuss it via e-mail, feel free to contact me on iw@watsonhouse.freeserve.co.uk [champagne] I noticed that she is already in a story [CSFB] i like champagne precisely because i don't think i could write her well [champagne] right, HH? [CSFB] mysteries are not my strong suit [HH_] I couldn't resist. [HH_] It was just a small retcon. [CSFB] i enjoy reading short mysteries, but i can never figure them out [Visionary] Did I miss something? [Nats_] You know, I'm only halfway through Wisdom #1 (from Marvel's MAX) and already I think it's a better Torchwood than Torchwood. [champagne] someone called Champagne is in Untold Tales no 299. [Visionary] 299?! [CSFB] meta-retcon [HH_] It was by way of welcome. Rhiannon made me do it. [Visionary] That's cheating. [CSFB] yes, blame your child [champagne] I was pretty surprised [champagne] In a good way [Nats_] I can't believe you've hit 300. And that your kid is now posting. Crazy. Why, back in my day... [HH_] Only one of the children is posting. The other is very miffed because he's not allowed to put his stories online. [Nats_] Heh. [champagne] I was flattered. Really. [CSFB] "in my day, we didn't have google or yahoo groups to help us find cartoon porn!" [Nats_] In my day, YouTube wouldn't have sold for eight bajillion dollars and people knew how to spell. [Nats_] But that's okay. [CSFB] people never knew how to spell [HH_] It would be helpful to have a little more background on Champagne to help us write her well though. [Nats_] I am still on my way to conquering the internets. [HH_] Appearance, set-up, abilities, ethics, that kind of thing. [Visionary] *reads 299* Aha... So *that* was Champagne that Samantha called. Clever. *** AlBHarper-autobot has left.(Ping Timeout) [champagne] Bye, Al [Visionary] Poor Al. [CSFB] in one regard at least, noam chomsky is fully of shit, because communication is not a native human ability [Visionary] Some people just aren't cut out to be autobots. [champagne] I think he works for an Australian academic institution [HH_] Do you have any ideas about what Champage looks like? Any actress who could play her? [CSFB] i actually won't talk too much shit about australians [Visionary] I think I once knew who Al worked for. I've even seen pictures of him. My mind is horribly decrepit. [CSFB] australians = next-door neighbors of new zealand [CSFB] new zealanders = descendants of aragorn [champagne] Maybe she looks like that woman who played Madame Pompadour in Dr Who? [HH_] Sophie Miles [Nats_] A Who watcher! [Nats_] I like you. [champagne] I like the series, yes. I don't always get to watch it. [CSFB] it's amazing that every other actor on doctor who had better chemistry with david tennant than billie piper did [HH_] A good choice and a great visual [CSFB] billie piper had great chemistry with christopher eccleston, but ... [Nats_] I think Tennant is awesome. [Nats_] In a suit. [Nats_] Or a can. [CSFB] tennant was not to blame, i think [Nats_] I dunno, I thought he and Billie got along fine. [Nats_] But Who is my new Can Do No Wrong show. Almost. [CSFB] it wasn't bad chemistry - not like anakin and padme - but it was just ... flat. like day-old opened soda [champagne] I thought they were fine together. [CSFB] tennant had WAY better chemistry with liz sladen [HH_] I encourage you to give us a little fact file about your character, Champagne. Just to make our lives easier. [CSFB] i could believe that a) they had a history and b) they wanted to fuxxorz [Visionary] I'm having a hard time finding a picture of Sophie Miles. Can someone describe her? [champagne] I dunno. I didn't expect to get so sucked in. [HH_] I may not have spelled her name right. Hold on. [CSFB] i think it might be "sophie myles" * CSFB is Kaine from Kung-Fu when it comes to Google image searching [Visionary] Was she in "Underworld"? [CSFB] perhaps [CSFB] sophie is blonde [HH_] http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/s2_04gallery/800/madame1.jpg [HH_] http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/s2_04gallery/800/madame3.jpg [champagne] she was in Thunderbirds [Visionary] Ah... she's a looker. [Nats_] It's Sophia Myles. And yes. She is. [HH_] She's also dating David Tennant. [Nats_] Which is why Tennant is dating her. [CSFB] I can't think of thunderbirds without recalling Team America: World Police [Visionary] She could do better. [HH_] Maybe she also has a great personality [champagne] anyway, thats what I think Champagne looks like [HH_] That's a great help [champagne] I do not look like that [Visionary] Nice choice. [Nats_] Ellis' new Thunderbolts is a partial parody of the Thunderbirds. Heh. [CSFB] i usually cast characters by which porn stars they remind me of [Visionary] And we already know about the 240lbs of taxi flesh you have. [CSFB] ellis's writing for the past few years is a sad parody of his own much better work [champagne] At least. Fear my awesome lard-ass [Visionary] Er... not that your flesh has a yellow checkered pattern on it or anything... [HH_] I think I' prefer to go with the Sophia Myles image [Visionary] Although I'm sure it could look lovely in the right lighting. [Nats_] I've only just discovered Ellis in recent years. And I think he's good. [Nats_] Nextwave was one of the best comics of the year. [CSFB] ellis used to be good [Nats_] Fell and Desolation Jones are quite good. [Nats_] Some of his other stuff is less so. [Nats_] And he's one of the better dialoguists in the biz. [champagne] I think I'm going to go now [CSFB] later champagne [champagne] bye bye everybody [Visionary] Okay... Later! *** champagne has left. [HH_] Good evening [CSFB] nats - if you ignore the fact that all of his characters speak exactly alike [CSFB] even garth ennis could do regional dialects well [HH_] Okay, I'm slightly spooked but mostly intrigued [CSFB] here's my impression of every ellis protagonist ever: [Visionary] Spooked by champagne? [HH_] Anyone who can just list a poster's address in spontaneous conversation is slightly scary. [Visionary] Yeah, there's that. [CSFB] "grrr, you bastards, i am a cynical yet still hopeful rebel, who obsesses over science innovations that everyone read about in Wired 5 years ago, fighting the system for a better world." [HH_] Kirk and Bill missed Champage listing Lisa's address [HH_] And phone number [Visionary] They did. Although Kirk had Lisa's phone number before. [Nats_] Uh... [CSFB] "i also drink and chain-smoke and act hard-bitten yet tender, but I'm not a Mary Sue for Warren Ellis himself AT ALL, no sir." [Visionary] They're in their comic zone. [Nats_] Kirk, you're excellent at rampant generalizations, *really,* but, please. [CSFB] back in japan [Nats_] I would take one Ellis over fifty billion Geoff Johnses. [HH_] So I noticed. [Visionary] I wouldn't know where to keep fifty billion Geoff Johnses. [CSFB] i was attracted to ellis' writing back when he started Planetary, because he was offering something genuinely new and different, versus the rest of the market [Nats_] Still have yet to read Planetary. Or Transmet. Or Authority. [HH_] maybe some kind of box under the bed? [Nats_] But I will get the trades one day. [Visionary] I don't have that kind of storage space. [CSFB] but the man used up his last new idea five years ago, and has been running on the fumes of his attitude ever since [HH_] You'd have to fold them carefully. [Visionary] In any event, I think Champagne is harmless. Hopefully. [Visionary] She really just likes to amaze with her ability to search and find online. [HH_] She seemed quite young to me. [Visionary] Could very well be. [HH_] No wonder she likes Kirk. [CSFB] it's kind of like the whole "alternative comix" scene, which is actually much more trapped by its own conventions than even a silver age nostalgia-fest superhero title [CSFB] champagne is young? does she have pink hair? [CSFB] and like techno music? [HH_] i really have no idea. I can only hope not. She seems quite a sensible person. [Visionary] Well, she *was* here. [HH_] Apart from that. [HH_] She did say she'd been "sucked in". [CSFB] "oh, look, it's yet another indy comic about disaffected 20somethings, one of whom works in a record store, another of whom is gay with a crush on a straight person!" [Nats_] Well, I think Ellis is good for comics, and will continue to financially support his manic endeavors. [Nats_] And I'll at least by Thunderbolts through to April just to see how he will destroy Steel Spider. [Nats_] And I love Steel Spider. [HH_] Ollie Osnick. [Nats_] Yes. [Visionary] She marks the first random person through this chat who actually visited the board. [Visionary] At least that I know of. [CSFB] i approve of ellis' support of other writers, but i'd also like to see him stop writing himself [HH_] What about Josh Clement? [Nats_] I was going to get newuniversal. But I didn't. Because I buy too many comics. [CSFB] since he's pretty much become the king of kypocrisy [Visionary] Did Josh originally just wander into this chat? [Visionary] Didn't he predate this chat? [HH_] I think he said so. He got talking to Shep. [Visionary] Huh. I didn't know that. [CSFB] "oh, i'm going to insult everyone who writes ultimate marvel titles! until they offer me ultimate fantastic four ..." [HH_] It may have been the original chat room. [Visionary] I originally thought that Josh was just a Space Ghost persona [HH_] And then there's Krotch. [Visionary] I try not to think about Krotch. [Nats_] Still not done ranting against Ellis? Okay. [CSFB] "... and i'm going to condemn superheroes as 'pervert suits,' before rewriting speedball until he becomes a BDSM nightmare of costume design. not hypocritical at all." [HH_] I did get an e-mail from Space Ghost a while back, wanting information for an essay he was writing. [Nats_] Ellis didn't come up with Penance. [Visionary] What was the essay on? [Nats_] And pervert suits don't have to be bad. [HH_] Psychiatric care [CSFB] he's still whoring himself out to write him [Nats_] He likes money. [CSFB] ellis thought pervert suits were bad - hence, the name [Nats_] Whatever. [CSFB] ellis verbally abused morrison and millar for whoring themselves out to ultimate marvel, back in the day [Nats_] Morrison never wrote for Ultimate anything. [CSFB] morrison consulted on ultimate avengers [Nats_] Ellis can do what he wants. And then he will write what he wants, because they give him that power. [HH_] I'm glad now I made a name change in UT#299, I wasn't sure at the time. [Visionary] I'm surprised she saw it. [HH_] Now that you mention it, so am I. [CSFB] ellis doing what he wants isn't my problem - ellis condemning others for doing what THEY want, and then doing the SAME stuff himself, makes him an ASSHOLE [HH_] I was just setting things up for later. [Visionary] It suggests she was reading through your archives. It wouldn't have shown up on a search for January, as the story was posted pre-christmas. [CSFB] i don't believe in creators who can "do no wrong" [HH_] It's not on my site yet [HH_] And I only made the change this week [Visionary] Then she paged back to read 299, I suppose. [HH_] A sucker for punishment [Visionary] Or taking more notes. [HH_] Indeed. [Visionary] For who knows what purpose. [HH_] As long as she looks like Sophie Myles, I don't really care. [CSFB] speaking of which ... [Visionary] I imagine she has my full address by now as well. [HH_] You let stuff like that online? [CSFB] i think csfb needs to undergo a physical symbol of his luke/anakin character growth [Visionary] Possibly. I'm listed in the phone book. [CSFB] i've listed my address [CSFB] not my phone ... [CSFB] i don't think i'm in the phonebook, since i only own a cell phone [Visionary] Although last I checked, the online listing was for my last address prior to this one. [HH_] You may be safe for a while yet, then. [CSFB] vizh - that's usually the way it works, tho, isn't it? [Visionary] Then again, I started this chat saying how my first girlfriend had just e-mailed me out of the blue, so I shouldn't complain. [HH_] Indeed. [CSFB] "the new phone books are here! the new phone books are here! mavin k. johnson! things are going to start happening for me now!" [HH_] I'll be heading off in five minutes time, [CSFB] The Jerk is an awesome film [CSFB] i'll be replying later tonite [Visionary] I'll probably head out as well. [HH_] Jolly good. [Visionary] Good. I need the next chapter. [Visionary] And HH needs to write it. [HH_] The reply, not the heading odd. [CSFB] well, if you all are leaving, i still need to nap ... [HH_] It;s written. it needs proofing and adjusting for pacing and suchlike. [HH_] And part three needs a lot of work. There's a lot of events in it. [Visionary] You're very good at that sort of thing. [CSFB] my sleep schedule has been fucked up [Visionary] I just hurry up and post them once i get vaguely done. [Visionary] Why aren't you sleeping, Kirk? [HH_] The problem is distinguishing things so that they don;t all just become one jumbled mass. [CSFB] i'm sleeping, but at odd hours [CSFB] i'll wake up for no reason [HH_] Stress? [CSFB] maybe [Visionary] I have trouble getting things to a finish lately. I have so many little story bits that don't add up to anything. [CSFB] existential angst [HH_] It's important to push through that and make yourself finish something. it's a discipline. [Visionary] And I've stopped myself from posting first parts, as it's no guarantee that I'll actually come back to it later. [CSFB] for the past dozen years, i keep meaning to photoshop a santa hat onto the scream painting, and use that as my christmas card [Visionary] I feel very crappy about any story that I finish, post, and am unhappy with. [HH_] The Miiri story should be simple enough... [HH_] Miiri comes home, walks up the stairs, and meets the kids [Visionary] It sits there like a evil reminder of how much of my time it ate up for no discernable purpose. [CSFB] with the death and rebirth arc, i think i actually finished a story arc for the first time [Visionary] That's not a really satisfying story. [HH_] Well, throw in flashbacks and a theme about conquering fears and learning about family. [Visionary] Now to carry that success through the wedding! [HH_] I agree. [CSFB] i don't know why this is so much harder [Visionary] Fear of committment. [HH_] Kirk: attack the story from another angle. [HH_] Have Dream and April looking through the wedding pictures [HH_] Everyone got little disposable cameras and took snaps [CSFB] it's trying to get in all the elements at once [Visionary] If you finish the wedding story, I'll write a Hallie and April tale. [HH_] That allows you to pick out the key bits you want to tell and to gloss over the other bits [Visionary] Tho' it's a limited time offer. [HH_] If you want to cover the enture supervillain attack in two photois, of the villain leaping and of him buried under a pile of heroes, you can do that [Visionary] Nice idea. [CSFB] mars meltsher has to appear, but everything that's wrapped up with him has to be whittled down to what's only needed [HH_] or you could use a wedding video, to allow more actual dialogue [HH_] Or flashbacks [Visionary] If you finish the wedding story before the end of January, Hallie and April will get nude in the story. [CSFB] even simplified, it's going to take some effort to make it work [HH_] I'd hold out for the illustration too, Kirk. [Visionary] Only if he finishes this weekend. [CSFB] i'll work on it this weekend [HH_] Score. [HH_] Well, if I can;t interfere more to make you write things I'd best be off. [CSFB] with that ... [Visionary] I feel a little dirty, but as long as we get a story out of it... [CSFB] later all [Visionary] Later! *** CSFB has left. [HH_] Good night folks. [Visionary] Night Ian | |||||||
