Either way it's unlikely he'd keep it secret.





It's not because she's an AI, it's because she's trusting that people that will react in a certain way, and because her job is to share information. Even some humans (like me) don't quite understand edge cases in some people's limits to friendship.

I'll give you an example. Political beliefs, like a yes/no on abortion, are generally stated pretty clearly by most people. If you're friends with someone who's venomously against it, you *never* tell them if you know someone who had one, especially if they're friends with that person. That's not an edge case.

The real edge case is when you tell a friend that a mutual friend did something that you don't believe either of you think is that bad. Like you tell your friend that a mutual friend of both of you never graduated college. Even if your friend really, really believed in college graduates, maybe you'd expect a response like "oh, that's sad". But you're surprised when instead he says, "That piece of trash, I'm never talking to them again". All you can say then is, "oops".

The way I imagined it, Hallie might tell someone she believes would be sympathetic that young Liu Xi made a mistake, or that it was an accident, but instead she gets a rather angry and violent response. And it's because she didn't understand where the limits of friendship between the two lay.








Because she doesn't believe in a maximum. She would weigh each case as it comes.





Yes, but a) it wasn't supposed to be permanent, and b) it was caused by successful blackmail by Vinnie's family to force him to marry Pandemonica. Ironically, he was afraid that would make him become evil, but Liu Xi convinced him that he could use the opportunity to turn Pandemonica into a good person and turn the entire family around. I think. It's been a long time.





Of course there are lots of different views on it. Looking at it from Liu Xi's point of view, she has a lot of reason to be angry. Looking at it from Vinnie's view, he knows his family's history and how he feels he'll probably end up, and he's better off as far from Liu Xi as possible, even if it hurts her right now.

And neither of those even cover outside influences like mortal enemies.





That happened right at the beginning of the story I posted this week. She sees things happen, but the visions don't respect the progression of time. So she does have to rely on her instincts to decide when it will happen, and how fast. That creates problems with "sleepers", or super-strong people who look normal, or can do something wildly unpredictable.

If she didn't already know Lara Night, Lara would be one of those people she couldn't predict.





Chiaki's only advice would be not to rely too much on the gift, because the future is fluid. Chiaki doesn't really understand "visions" of things to come, because she sees multiple possibilities instead.








There may be a difference there: Yuki is careful, but a little crazy. She'll jump off of a building, but only because she knows she has a reasonable escape or chance of surviving. The crazy part is where she doesn't worry about things normal people do, like what if I miss? What if the wind throws me off course? etc. She jumps, and she's 100% sure she'll make it when she goes.
