I don't see this is a problem. Rich backstory, wide array of characters, complicated social structure, it's all something Tolkien and Rowling have done. And hey, it just means you have all the more fodder for one of those encyclopaedic 'hidden backstory' books to complete the set.

I do like the sound of that familiar baddie leader. And look forward to the unveiling of the heroine. You have used a similar flashback-story-flashback-story style before i am sure in some of the PVB stories haven't you? I think it worked then. And hey, Stoker did it to perfect effect.
