The way I would estimate it, I think the "penalty" for visiting the wonderwall would be a lot less abstract than it looks. Lara would come back thinking she looks the same and feels the same, but she starts to be able to solve problems for people she was never able to before. Soon after she'd realize that people are keeping away from her and cutting her out of the loop because they want to be able to forge their own path without being "taken care of" by her.

Therefore if Lara's smart, she'll learn something from what happened to Faite before she visits the wonderwall, and try not to do too much, and to give priority to staying in touch with her friends.
