From what little I know, it's interesting to note that both the Chinese and Tibetans have ancient stories about demons who come from beneath the Earth's surface. Of course that may just have to do with the fact that both countries have lots of scary-looking caves, and earthquakes (the Japanese have similar stories, too).
The languages are hard to make connections between, though, sometimes because there are similarities and even words/syllables that are the same. But other times those words mean something entirely different.
