Definitely agree here. This is a great opportunity to contrast the strengths and weaknesses of both characters. Add in Asil feeling conflicted if there is friction between the two and I think there is some excellent story potential here.

Then again, we already did a version of that when Mumphrey was in charge. Lisa and Dancer were held captive and Mumphrey made the call that duty came before comrades, a decision which didn't sit well with Vizh. Not that I'd be against it from the other side as well.

I think I'd prefer to find new ways for them to interact.

I half-remember either a story or conversation about a story from way back when CSFB! did his big BZL/DC crossover. There was some confrontation between Dancer and Iron Man (who is Marvel, yes) and a debate about probabilities vs technology etc. and who would win in a big 'ol vs battle. And all I could think was "Those two wouldn't fight. They'd be in bed within 10 minutes."

I don't think Vizh and Mumph will end up in bed together but I hope whatever they do do it won't be a repeat of what we've seen before.

The LL needs someone in charge who is: a) Apparently harmless, and b) actually gives a damn about the considerations of others.

CSFB! is smarter than he looks.

    Quote:
Visionary said before that he suspects people wanted him in charge last time because he doesn't really need to do anything but be available to take the blame when things go wrong. That's essentially the chairman's job in this set up too, from what I see. Mumphrey's job seems to be his secretary of state... someone to be deployed to deal with the troublemakers that need a stern talking to. By not being the leader himself, he can take an aggressive stand while not actually escalating the situation, since he's not the one with his finger on the button, so to speak.

It's an analogy.

    Quote:
However, I'm always very cautious with my "primary" characters about giving them too much spotlight at the cost of others. That was why I shifted Mumph out of the LL before and at one point was intending to kill him off at the end of the Parody War. I think I need to reflect further on how wise it is to have him back there in the cast.

    Quote:
I like how i've written stories about Vizh having 9 gorgeous aliens chasing after him, bedding Dancer, and a host of other questionable tales without pimping out my characters. Makes me wonder how far I'd have to go to get people to notice... ;\-\)

Let's find out. Write more.

    Quote:
In any event, even though I never asked for the job back, Vizh is apparently the LL leader again. So that means that Mumphrey serves at his pleasure, or something. So no resigning or dropping dead. I enjoy him being there too. I don't think he undermines anything as long as he believes that Vizh is the right one to be making the calls right now. Lisa, and Visionary each went from leading to just being associate Legionnaires without undermining the current chairs... no reason that wouldn't work for Mumph.

I'll take it all under advisement.
