If an empire like Klein's - and Klein's sponsors - could be taken down by one big push it would have been long gone by now. Jay's set himself up for a long war of attrition but that may be an effective long term route to victory.

Keiko didn't take down the whole I.A. either, she just crippled it so it would have to take time to rebuild.

In the kind of fierce dog eat dog world of GMY politics all the "easy" hits have been made and the rest would be costly. I'm just trying to make it hard to solve the problems - a "magic bullet" quick win isn't as dramatically satisfying in this situation.

Assuming Jay got past security there's still Klein's attack lawyers.

There's no law against being in a public restaurant and chatting with the mayor. Sure they could get a restraining order, but it'll be too late by then.

Tell that to the secret service when you try to walk up to the President for a chat.

And Klein's bodyguards tend to "accidentally" kneecap people first and apologise to them later as they're heading into reconstructive surgery.

He's avoiding a gang war. No point in losing good men who could work for him once Klein's down.

    What if they're "recent recruits"?

Deadeyes doesn't mind killing when he has to but he tries to take care of his people and his city. Mass murder's bad for business.

This might be where we show the separation between the Hood's powers and Faite's. I guess the Hood can't change the present without past to support it, and since Liu Xi isn't supposed to have lineage to support her, if she vanishes he can't recover her. Faite, on the other hand, can completely ignore the past and make her exist in the present.

    Quote:
Of course the remaining question is whether she *will*. The chances of that increase a bit now that she's more in touch with the people she knows.

Liu Xi's still here. Who's to say Faite hasn't already done something to keep her around this long?
