It became clear in correspondence with Kirk that CSFB!'s chosen direction would require someone to "reality check" him. I argued that Yuki wasn't the person who's most relish doing that.




It's a gender balance and ethnicity balance thing. As an Asian-American female (and almost a robot) she ticks plenty of boxes.




I'm not sure that the big brass has noticed Hatty's not American. Canada's one of those big Northern states, right?




The axact jurisdiction of the LL has wavered between US and UN (a bit like that of the Avengers). I once had this stuff worked out but that was long ago. There was a US Act which initially enabled the superheroes of WW2 to operate that HV and Lisa used to claim Parody Island and to establish some legitmacy for the LL. There was a UN Resolution that extended that authority. Who knows what the legislation is after SR1066 and the Parody War?

The US has always had a special relationship with the LL though. They're appointed a liason and expected some kind of security veto on members before (although they've not always got it).

Fortunately, right now CSFB! has managed to alarm pretty much all the world's governments so there's no real jurisdictional conflict. Everybody's scared.
