Subj: No. But I understand some of his objections. Others are plain stupid. Posted: Thu Apr 08, 2010 at 08:06:10 am EDT (Viewed 6 times) | Reply Subj: So you're on the General's side. Interesting. Posted: Wed Apr 07, 2010 at 06:06:32 pm EDT (Viewed 3 times)
While the expansion idea is questionable te need for a Lair Legion isn't. When the planet is attacked it needs defenders specially prepared for this, ones that aren't attached to any one government. Superheroes operate under a different set of rules to the government or the military and they can do what the others can't. That's the main problem with CSFB!'s plan though. It makes the LL a military organisation and forces them to operate under military rules. Quote: Quote: Some sort of unhappy government person was always going to appear. I'm not sure if it's wrong either, there's a major difference between superhero ethics and military ethics and if the LL do expand they'll be operating under military ethics which don't fit well with vigilante justice. Now all it takes is for the LL to provoke an already tense siuation by helping a wanted murderess like Silicone Sally and it's looking like the end of a team.Quote: It was very clear to me that Dream's preferred approach to LL leadership would be different from his tenure as acting leader during the crisis of the Parody War; and that such an apporach was going to create legal, political, and social difficulties for the team.Quote: The strange thing is that Dream's "one big team" concept isn't a million miles away from how the various heroes were co-ordinated during the Parody War. However, what seemed like a good idea in desperate days under alien attack may not be so popular or clever an idea at a later time.During the war the heroes fought as an extension of the army. That's very different from being an independant team. People otside the team tend to object - no-one voted for the LL. Also, from a practical point of view running a small team would be very different from how the orginisation of the 'expanded LL' would have to be. When you know every member of the team personally and as a close friend you can trust them to make judgemnet calls, with a large group you need to set down rules and precedent and rigid guidlines doesn't work in superhero situations. Out of intrest how does CSFB! becoming leader work? Presumably this is different from his tenure as acting leader as Hatman isn't missing, he resigned. I'd like to think that when that happens there's some process for choosing a new leader, not just automatically defaulting to the second in comand.
