Chiaki's not really a traditional samurai though. She's not heavily armoured, horsed, or supported by ground troops.

Indeed. But that means manouvreable and multi-theatre and required adaptations of equipment and method.

Obviously, since non-modern Samurai didn't have to deal with things like proliferation of firearms, stun guns, and a relatively high number of people taking an interest in martial arts and street fighting. Chiaki is trained to remain one step ahead of all of that to avoid obselcense.

And samurai are in front of you while ninja are behind you.

Generally, Chiaki will stop to talk an opponent before attacking. In a sense, Samurai are much more confident than Ninja, they're willing to hold their ground till very late in the game. Ninja are quick and deadly but believe they're fragile, so they usually strike before their opponent has a chance to strike first. It may or may not reflect the reality of the situation - it's just that ninja will try to maintain a much wider edge.

You've probably seen that in World Class - Keiko will usually keep her distance until she's certain she has the advantage, and then she'll strike before she loses it. Chiaki will usually give up the advantage a few times, and be willing to fight with a *disadvantage* just so she can make sure she's doing the right thing.

It seems very much improved today. I haven't had a missed page so far.
