Also I'd argue that there's a difference between being able to recall detail and an obsession with it. There are all kinds of characters from Hallie to CSFB! who can access vast amounts of data. It's that intense desire to make links with it that characterises Clockwatcher.

The Librarian is closest to that, but not by much.

Given the Hood's multi-reality perspective its quite possible that there are timelines he is aware of where this has already happened and where he's then had to eliminate Chiaki or others. That's how he'd know where to pitch the boundaries of any manipulation or testing in his cultivated core reality.

    Quote:
That's where an interesting balance takes place, because it's entirely likely that Chiaki *knows* when she's getting close to crossing one of the Hooded Hood's plans. He might be surprised at how she manages not to get herself eliminated.

Gratified, possibly. The Hood hates to waste material he could use later.

She's affecting the Parodyverse just by existing there. After that fro the Hood it's just a matter of a simple arrangment such as having her take the last space in a crowded lift that diverts someone else to another future - and she's hooked!

    Quote:
It's a matter of scale, though. She doesn't *directly* effect history if she behaves like an observer. Everyone else is a part of history.

The only time Faite really gets involved and interferes is when the present has been thrown way out of balance, like during the Moderator saga. Bad news is, that means she'll do her best to interfere with the plans of the Carnifex, if she isn't already.

She might recognise that the Carnifex is a lure to flush out those who might interfere with his bosses demolition plans.

    Quote:
Faite would be trickier than that, out of experience. She would somehow manage to redirect an "innocent" who becomes the object of the Carnifex' or his boss' actions, so their plans are ruined. She works in small steps, usually, so nobody can tell it's her. The Hooded Hood only knows, because his webs are so tangled, she had to get involved directly a couple of times.

It gets a bit metatextual here since the Carnifex's bosses are "being from beyond the Parodyverse who wish to see it destroyed" to prevent "those who created the Parodyverse for an unknown purpose" from fulfilling their own plans.
