> > Liu Xi is pretty smart, but not quite Al B Harper smart. Though at some point she's going to start to realize there are way too many gaps in what her grandfather is saying and then start to believe he's lying. She's trying hard to believe, but there's a limit to that.
>
> She's on both an intellectual and emotional learning curve.
|
Hopefully it's a fast-moving one.
> > That may be a painful clash of cultures, though. Liu Xi likes to be in the loop, to know exactly what's going on and why. Traditionally though, she's supposed to do what her elders tell her without questioning. She's only willing to obey the traditions she abandoned when her parents sent her away if there's an actual payoff - if it looks like her friends aren't going to be rescued she just might try to find a way out.
>
> So far her actions seem to be moving towards that goal.
|
I wonder if the Void Scholar knows that Liu Xi doesn't usually give much outward sign that her patience is wearing thin. She usually just takes it for a while and then loses her temper. His plan might be in jeopardy and he doesn't even realize it.
> > And that feeling within her might be more urgent now that she sort of knows where Lee Bookman is. While she might not be able to find him exactly, she knows he's in Comic Book Limbo, and she's been there before. It all depends whether she's willing to test her luck and her skill.
>
> She also knows that usually there is no way out of Comic-Book Limbo unless someone is pulled out.
|
Liu Xi might also know of an extremely dangerous way to get around that: Pull pieces of Comic Book Limbo into another place until she finds the right one. It's not a desirable solution, but if she's motivated enough she can punish her grandfather by dumping chunks of broken cities into his realm so she can search them.
> > Interesting question though: If Samantha Bonnington and Liu Xi are somehow linked through long-ago ancestry, doesn't that mean Liu Xi stands as good a chance of being the Celestial Madonna as Samantha does? Because that line means that one of the two is the Celestial Madonna, and the other is a byproduct of that creation. The question is whether the byproduct would have the elemental power.
>
> Remember that traditionally a Madonna - literally a mother - is used to refer to the parent of a remarkable child.
|
True, but who knows what Liu Xi's kids will be like?
> In at least one timeline, the lineage of the Celestian Madonna also includes a liason with "the fernbiote" - presumed to mean spiffy or some descendant - and with a von Zemo. Goldeneyed, Exile, and Suicide Blonde (who has remarkably turned up again in this storyline) were all born in the far future of this family tree.
|
Okay, Liu Xi hasn't really dealt much with any of those.
> > btw, in case you don't see the other replies first - did you get my email?
>
> I haven't receieved an e-mail from you. My old address seems to have become extremely unreliable. You might try hh at chillwater. demon. co dot uk

I sent it again to both just in case. If that fails I'll have to test the private message pickup service built into the software which maybe works.
