It seemed neccessary to mark the end of their long journey, and to give them a final scene - even if they never had a similar opening one.

You don't need to dread the next part. The pace does pick up a bit from part five, though, leading to something of a cliffhanger at the end of part seven, leading into UT#328 (assuming we still have some readers by then). You can worry all you like in UT#328.
