Quote: There is a bit of grey area to this because Faite has access to tools that Vinnie doesn't. For instance she has tools that can accomplish what Vinnie did for Liu Xi without harming anyone. However...Vinnie would want to know why she didn't use those tools then, but left him to face the tough choice. "Where were you when I had to decide, huh? Where were you when Slithis tried to take Liu Xi? Where were you as all those people died when the New Pantheon attacked? Somebody who sat back and just watched doesn't get to armchair quaterback afterwards! You want to know why I don't rely on you to swoop in and save us? You just proved you won't!" Quote: Faite *also* would insist that two people cannot inhabit one body long term, because it will cause harm to both spirits. She likely would have forced the two of them to choose who will stay and who will go, or maybe merged the two of them into one spirit. Either option is not idea for either one of them.Vinnie already had to make that call, or had to force Laurie to make it. Beth's view may vary. Quote: Where she believes Vinnie was stupid, though, is trying to sugarcoat it and pretend this was a positive solution for everyone. He should have been honest and told them this is the way it has to be.He was fairly clear when he said: “I’ve done as much book-keeping as I can. There’s no more scores I can balance. And the choice has to be Laurie’s. I think I can get Beth restored. I can separate Liu Xi from the toxic void that will otherwise destroy her. There won’t be a Citizen Z any more. Laurie pays the price.†Quote: As for a general price for saving the Parodyverse, Faite sees that as a stupid question because she's used to dynamic thinking, and that forces thought in a linear scale. How many people have to die to save the PV? Her answer would always be zero. No one *has* to die. They do so because of bad choices that were made, or action that wasn't taken, and it could have been avoided. What good choices have been made to stop the New Pantheon tossing prime-Earth at the Wonderwall and prevent the hundreds of deaths caused by the Chain Knight and the end of humanity in a cosmic impact? Note, however, that Vinnie did manage to set things up to beat the baddies with his friends' help without loss of any further life except the bad guys themselves. The knock-on cost of "book-keeping" was a bargain - one unquiet spirit relocated to slow oblivion and some bruised feelings and personal difficulties. Quote: Quote: Vinnie must be concerned that Liu Xi's compassionate nature is always leaving her facilitating other people, so much that she's never stopped to work out what she wants. Quote: She probably does a lot of that because she feels like she owes something after having killed someone with fire. Eventually someone will have to come along and convince her that she paid her debt a long time ago. Sounds like something Chiaki would do eventually, but to *really* convince her it would have to come from someone she works with regularly. It seems that Liu Xi spends so much time trying to fix Vinnie and others in part so she doesn;t have to try the harder task of fixing herself. Quote: Oddly enough, she's happier when she's not in trouble, and can help other people with their problems. That's partly her nature but its partly avoidance behaviour. Quote: Quote: Vespiir has actively tried to shut down her powers until very recently.Quote: Chiaki would tell her that's kind of a useless idea. The power is always there, and ignoring it only brings sadness. It also helps avoid beatings, brandings, rape, and torture. | |||||||
