It's still some very dicey moral ground to stand on, since it's still not Beth actually voicing consent, but rather a third party offering up the opinion that she would if she could. I don't think it would make Vizh feel good about it, but it would be enough for him to go along with it, especially if he imagined himself in Beth's shoes and any one of his friends in Laurie's.
Good luck explaining it to Beth's mom though.
