Well, he's a good man whose dedication to his job might be his only romantic downside. Of his main relationships:

Funny you came to that assessment, because I had this story I never posted where Lara came to the same conclusion, that he's married to his job and assumes anyone he's romantically involved in will have to understand and deal with it (it started with her teasing him about one of his co-workers at the foundation, forget the name but it starts with an "E").

To be fair though, she's someone who had a good relationship turn sour rather suddenly. Though she's still friends with the guy, it caused her to take on a somewhat pessimistic view of romance. So when she sees Jay do things that are destructive to romance it reminds her to stay well clear in that department. She would like to help him change those habits, but for him, not for herself.

It's not that she doesn't understand that his biggest failures weren't his fault; however she also sees that being unwilling to let go of his work, or his pet projects, or bend the rules in many circumstances is hurting him. She also believes he keeps himself detached from people, and that hurts him too.

I've not got plans for another Hatty romance relationship. I have reservations about writing fictional romances for poster-characters named after posters themselves once those posters are in commited relationships. It would be weird for Mrs Boaz to go online and read about her husband's fictional namesake smooching either a supporting cast member or another poster character.

Poster-Hatty told me that a while ago, and since then I've portrayed him as not interested in anyone. \:\) The other contributing factors I noted above weren't created by me at all though, they were observations from past stories.
