Jay's had a troubled love life.

I don't remember if it was a reply to someone else or you, but I mentioned that's why Lara Night keeps to just a friendship with him - while she's too polite to say so, she quietly believes that he's poisonous, and getting tangled up in his love life will only lead to heartbreak, pain (sometimes literally), and sorrow. At the same time, she feels bad for him for that reason, so she offers friendship and companionship.

Well, he's a good man whose dedication to his job might be his only romantic downside. Of his main relationships:

1. His childhood sweetheart Sorceress returned for an adult romance, but things turned sour when the Hooded Hood forced them to choose between idyllic retirement with a child on the way and saving innocents.

2. A potential long-term relationship with Grace O'Mercy was ruined when Nosferos the Hellraiser forced her to drain Jay's blood. Although the Night Nurse saved Hatman in the end, the addict's temptation to drink his blood again means that Grace tends to stay out of Hatman's way.

3. A complicated relationship with Rabid Wolf was delayed because of her prior marriage but was eventually sundered after a similar alternate reality "happy ending" for Jay was shattered (by Whitney). And then Zdenka died, of course.

I've not got plans for another Hatty romance relationship. I have reservations about writing fictional romances for poster-characters named after posters themselves once those posters are in commited relationships. It would be weird for Mrs Boaz to go online and read about her husband's fictional namesake smooching either a supporting cast member or another poster character.

Of course. But I'm sure Dr. Pfeffercorn's office will be open in the morning.

    That hasn't stopped her before.

Finny's gynophobia was on old running joke.
