I'm judging by your comment line that you're not too impressed by the threat in this story.

Putting this kind of situation into a tale is always a judgement call and relies upon balancing the narrative to retain some good taste. On the other hand omitting what seems to me to be a natural reaction from incarcerated criminals would seem suspension-of-disbelief-shatteringly unrealistic.

Maybe the best way to avoid offence would be to avoid the scenario as a whole, but having written myself into the corner I had to write myself out of it.

Anyway, sorry this episode didn't seem right to you.
