Quote: Or am I misremembering that particular plot point?Quote: I don't know that you are, I think it just comes down to an interpretation of this scene. From the Hood's wording, I took what she did as a bargain for the extension of her sanity only, rather than the idea that he'd undo the warning about the Carnifex and thus doom the entire Parodyverse. Shrike is corrent in interpreting that if Vespiir had arrived insane her warning would not have been effective. He's also right that the Hood wanted the warning given; but the cowled crime czar has always been a tough bargainer. Quote: Honestly though, while that sounds really harsh, I don't blame her. She had a gun to her head, and she knew exactly what she was faced with losing. Not everyone in a story should be completely selfless, and she already saved the universe more times than I'll ever do. I can't blame her for blinking when faced with a fate she now fully understood, one that terrified her, versus intentionally misleading her friends (into a by-no-means-certain fate.)I tend to see the sanity-shredding elder nastiness that Vespiir braves as being especially monstrous, and as the story mentioned its even worse for a psychic. Vespiir just doesn't possess either the experience or the self-confidence to even stand a chance. Quote: Which is partly why this one made me sad... She deserved to feel like a hero for all time for what she did for everyone. Now, already, the Hood has taken that away. He's a bastard alright. And he's only just started with his Vespiir project. Quote: Quote: As for other heroes who've made some shaky deals with the Hood to get what they want, Sorceress and Mr. Epitome were willing to compromise themselves much worse than the Caphan did. At least in my opinion.Quote: I'd have to be reminded of their initial deals to compare. I do think there are plenty of characters that have traveled further down the slippery slope... I just don't think there are as many that have been faced with such a cliff-like dividing line at the start.Indeed. | |||||||
