Quote: I've replied now. Looks fine. So that character can go on the secret government's "list" too. That's where she's doing something kind of smart - she knew she was going to be on the "list" sooner or later. Going public like that makes the government less likely to take direct action against her, though. They'd like to finish their plan without it being broadcast all over the country, garnering sympathy from the public. Quote: The problem comes when they know she's looking and decide she should disappear. Because she's not a high-profile person it could be a while before anyone realises she's missing. That's more something Yuki would get in trouble with, since she's more obvious about her intentions, and kind of abrasive about it on purpose. Chiaki is more likely to politely request meetings with everyone involved, have tea with them, and chat them up in a comfortable atmosphere so they're more likely to talk to her. She learned a lot from Akiko. Quote: No, I've got some good people who can do good stuff. This particular set of data wasn't from them though. I don't know what assumptions or conventions they've used to derive their cost estimates and they don't seem able to tell me, and I'm not signing off on numbers that appear to have been randomly picked. All the spreadsheets I've ever seen were random collections of numbers, done by people who just wanted to create a bunch of numbers. There are too many people who don't know how to use the layout tools properly. Quote: 1. He could point out to Lara all the traps and snares that Thugos had laid for her, ensuring that she's unlikely to end up in a similar conversation with Thugos again.I'm sure Thugos will be unhappy about that. And Lara might actually be interested in that conversation. Quote: 2. He could maniplate Lara to either avoid or be interested in the Wonderwall, as it suited him.Faite may have already beat him to it. She's teaching Lara not to be afraid. Quote: 3. He could provoke her interest in some situation in this reality to keep her around for future use.Lara's interest has been provoked into situations so much that she's going to need a very good, honest explanation on what his stake in it is. She's such a skeptic about the Hooded Hood's plans - she knows he can be brutally honest, but simultaneously doesn't believe anything he says. Quote: 4. He could provoke her interest in some situation in this reality that's going to turn very sour, eroding Lara's desire to stay around and breaking her heart. She's a realist, she might see this coming already. The Hooded Hood can probably confirm it though. The only big problem with #4 I can see is if the plan causing the sour thing is the Hood's, and it turns into one of those "It's too late to stop it" speeches. You know how CSFB! feels about those. Quote: 5. He could set Lara up with a situation requiring Faite's input, thus keeping both of them involved where he wants them. This is highly likely. Actually it might be most likely, since Faite both has plans of her own, and is looking to get involved a little more considering the current crises. It might not even take manipulation - all the Hooded Hood might need to do is seed a little needed information. Quote: 6. He could offer some justifications (but not all) for his taking of Lara's memory. He could offer a deal to get them back - but at a cost.Lara learns fast. At this point she's not sure she wants the memories back, especially not at a cost. The memory loss was painful at first, but now she's adapting. Quote: 7. He could direct Lara to some confrontation with some enemy he wants removing so he can have Clockwatcher extract another fragment of the Jarvisite he's collecting. That would be kind of petty of him, wouldn't it? His usual dual-purpose of corrupting someone innocent wouldn't apply, since Lara has killed before. And lying to get Lara to attack someone innocent is kind of beneath him (and would fall through if she plays it smart and double checks first). Quote: 8. He could show Lara something, a place, a time, a dimension, and ensure that Lara was seen with him; either to give the impression that she's working with him, or to attract some entity to take an interest in her. She's been seen enough times with the Hooded Hood that anyone might make that assumption already. It's just that most people who know her know better. But there are exceptions. While CSFB! is nearly out of his mind, he could set up a confrontation between himself and the wired wonder, and make it seem like Lara is working against CSFB! so he feels betrayed. It could take a herculean effort on Lara's part to convince him otherwise, unless CSFB! believes in Lara enough. Note this also qualifies as #4. Quote: 9. He could seduce her.I think to that Lara would say "ew". Likely to his face. Plus the Hood wouldn't have a secondary purpose for that, since she isn't tied to this timeline at the past - so retcons against her would have very limited effect (which is why her memory loss hasn't caused much more than an annoyance). | |||||||
