Quote: The Silver Aegis seems like a natural choice in the absence of Epitome. The gov. likely has some questions about him that might raise red flags, but I think they'd be comfortable dealing with him over most other choices. Aegis may be the least "controllable" government agent. Apart from originating in another US he's also got some absolute morals. It's why Captain America was never going to lead the pro-registration movement even when ordered to. As I said, there are a few red flags, but even with liberal leanings I don't think that either Cap or the Aegis would worry people that they were going to seize power, plus they're both ones to actually deal with proper channels whenever possible, which makes them much more reasonable than most of the other options available. Quote: Al B.'s a possibility, although he's got dual nationality so he might have mixed loyalties (he's also a citizen of Costa Del Lune). True, but it's hard to come up with a full roster that doesn't have a single non-American, so they're going to have to accept that fact if hay want experienced Legionnaires. Quote: Donar, because the government seems to like powerful weapons that can level a city block just in case they ever need to make a point, as long as they're either controllable or at least predictable and unlikely to get too many ideas on their own. I think a psyche evaluation would show them that Donar's happy to get into a fight, and not at all likely to betray or turn against those rightfully in power. He'd likely walk away from the mortal's world before taking it over. Some compelling points. He'd be dangerous on a team with Visionary, though, as he'd tend to back Vizh's play over any formal chain of command. So I guess it comes down to how easily they think they can keep Vizh in line... Quote: Goldeneyed, for added response time and a personality they can be comfortable with. Possibly true. As comfortable as they can be with a masked man who can be anywhere in a flash. Quote: Dancer, because the number of personal references she has is enough to make a politician sit up and take notice... and I don't even mean that in a Spark test kind of way. She also looks good on the PR photos. It's always good to keep someone around who's good at keeping the peace. Being telegenic is just a really, really nice bonus. Quote: Yuki Shiro for the all-around abilities she offers, along with a personality that isn't likely to give them fits. She's a risk junkie who's too snoopy for her own good, but she's got a lot of useful stuff to bring to the party. I've had some family members get jobs with the government that came with background checks and security clearances... The main thing that tends to scare the people doing the checking is a history with radical causes... You can be a crazy person, they just don't want you to have overly strong feelings about political matters. Being likely to get yourself killed is okay as long as you take your secrets with you. Quote: and Visionary, because there always needs to be somebody ready to take the blame when things go wrong. Noted. You note far too much. There were others that I considered, naturally... I figured Mumphrey was quite proven. I just figured that he was too formidable to place in charge if you were in the government. You don't want to install him as the person you're likely to butt heads with. Hatty is the same way... A strong leader, only now it's not offset by the powers/ experience in the field, so they would probably feel they could pass on him. However, he does have a good history of working with others, so he would be a better choice if they didn't want to be chewed out by an Englishman for doing something foolish. As a Canadian, he's much more polite about government toadies' failings. Nats strikes me as a hard one to pin down. Unraveling his recent history alone must take a hell of a lot of paperwork. I doubt anyone wants to think too hard about the Shoggoth... Lui Xi, Chiaki, and Lara are all a bit too mysterious to trust, if they're even all here legally. Hallie and Anna aren't officially people to the government, and with tense robosapien issues in society I don't see them even being considered. And, of course, CSFB will be lucky if he's not forcibly deported after this... | |||||||
