Quote: That's what Dark Thugos told you, Lord Slithis? Really?"Probably even less obvious. Chiaki might just comment, "Hmm." When Slithis says something Thugos told him. And then when he asks if there's a problem, she'd just shrug and say "Nothing, I'm sure it'll be fine." Why would that work so well? Because Chiaki knows if Slithis takes that question to Thugos, he won't get a straight answer, which will just make the paranoia worse. Thugos might just respond telling Slithis not to let the Samurai manipulate him, but eventually Slithis will realize that doesn't answer the question. Quote: As with so many other things the Hood does, his deals tend to have additional consequences beyond the obvious. Often they're set up so that whatever the outcome the Hood benefits.I'm not saying Chiaki would jump at the chance making a deal with him, but she won't say no based on his reputation alone. That would be Lara who would reject him based on reputation (and if you notice, the Hood forced one upon her anyway). Quote: Quote: I've implied that they've slept together a few times, but not regularly. Liu Xi really wants to fall into a relationship, but she's still afraid of the consequences - that Vinnie might backslide to Kerry again (or someone else), or that he might be forced by his job to do something to her or the Lair Legion - so she's keeping her distance just a little bit. Basically, they spend some time apart (i.e. he doesn't go to school with her, and she doesn't always go on occult business with him), and they don't live together, which is why sometimes it looks confusing when Liu Xi is hanging out with friends alone and Vinnie is who-knows-where.Quote: Useful clarification.Until now I've purposely been giving only confusing peeks into what the two were doing because most of it was from their friends' point of view. Sometimes Liu Xi would be by herself, sometimes Vinnie would be at her place, and occasionally he would say something that hints at what's going on behind the scenes. Quote: Quote: I guess what's funny is that Liu Xi is trying to be so careful, and she's accidentally cultivating what's really a very mature relationship. Hatman might be almost jealous (except for the sleeping together part).Quote: It's good to know where they are in their romance, which is really still at the trying-each-other-out phase, shy of commitment.I guess the downside to that is Liu Xi is seeking a place where she's comfortable before the relationship moves forward. The risks to that are: If something goes wrong, she'll feel like she was right keeping her distance; and if that doesn't happen, and Vinnie gets restless and wants to move things along. Fortunately for her, the latter is less likely, because given his history, Vinnie seems to be grateful for what he's given. Quote: Quote: Quote: I don't think Vinnie would be cruel; but he might have to do something he felt was neccessary.Quote: Quote: If Liu Xi feels very hurt, that distinction isn't going to make her feel better. The question now, I guess, is whether Vinnie feels close enough to her to beg her forgiveness, or if he'll just sigh, accept his punishment, and walk away.Quote: Indeed. It could hurt Liu Xi badly in more ways than one. Her heart would be broken, and also if Vinnie sighs and walks away, she would feel like she failed, too - because she wanted so badly for Vinnie to feel like he deserves someone caring. | |||||||
