Subj: I think it's fair to say it's both. Lead on the roof would help.

Reply Subj: That foundation better not be leaky or crumbling.

If he could find her later, Jay might do well to remember that Chiaki has been a successful real estate developer for a while now - and she buys all that real estate through shell companies in case something happens to her. Lawyers probably work just as well, but they just don't have the experience revitalizing properties.

The reason I gave Jay a fixer-upper is so that he can gradually work with allies and friends to make things right. I don't want to make it too easy - like getting a billion pound cheque from the Bautista Foundation or something - but I expect Hatty will call on whatever expertise he's got available to him as time goes on.

Of course knowing him, he won't want to owe Chiaki for it, so she'd probably suggest he come up with a way to make the Foundation profitable in exchange.

As a charity it's not allowed to make a profit. If it makes a surplus however, that can be used for additional charitable endeavours.

As we'll see, the main problems at the moment are that its assets are all tied up in legal red tape, unable to be found, or else physically deteriorated properties. It's not just the Foundation building but a whole portfolio of derilict homes and overgrown parks.

    Quote:
Or if Jay is feeling exceptionally brave, maybe cut Frankie and his Zoot Suit Gang into some kind of deal. The local gangs wouldn't want to be seen anywhere near Foundation property then.

I don't think Hatty's the kind to cut deals with criminals. He came as close as he ever would by taking a ride with Deadeyes.

And note that the Boss didn't offer any physical help. He knows that that would lead to eventual direct conflict with Klein, and if Klein knew about his interest in the Foundation she could threaten the Foundation to get the advantage of him. The same would presumably be true for Frankie.

    Quote:
It looks like Jay is trying hard to be more like Visionary now that he has no powers - build connections he can use when he needs to.

He's been around long enough to have a few good resources, that's for sure.
