Quote: All of this was fun, especially the last scene. If it wasn't for the stunning mock-GCSE results you brought home today I'd be worried. Note for Americans and other aliens: GCSEs are the subject-based qualifications taken in school by 16 year olds in the UK, roughly akin to SATs. Graded between F for fail through to A then A* for the top 3 percentile they're used to determine whether a student stays on to gain qualifications for university. The "mock" GCSEs are the dress rehearsal for the real thing in summer. Rhiannon managed to get 4 A*, 3 A, 2 B and a D (for incomplete Graphics coursework so far) in her "mocks". If followed through to actual GCSEs and similar results at 18 she would be eligible for even the best universities such as Oxford or Cambridge, possibly on scholarship. This as a spectacular result for most children and I am moderately pleased. There may be ice-cream. I expect Rhiannon's actual results to improve on this. Pity her. | |||||||
