All the same, at some point I'll get Vinnie back to his original situation. I don't want things to get cushy for him or for him to be able to rely on the kindness of friends. It's like Peter Parker marrying a rich supermodel * takes cover from the wrath of CSFB! *

I guess sooner or later that place will be repaired. But who says that a Chiaki owned building is all that cushy?

Back home she's [Lara] a loner as a hero because most of the others are either jealous that she talks to a goddess, because the media likes her, or they just don't like her on principle.

Maybe she needs to work on her people skills?

The problem for her back home is she's too famous, so it's difficult to find friends who won't either be jealous or take advantage of her.

Lara does have the advantage of being thousands or millions of miles away, or at a distance that can't be measured because it crosses impossible barriers.

        Quote:
So she'd never come to Parody-Earth again?

I think she'd only have to avoid them until the old vampire speaks to her, or the contest is over, whichever comes first.

I guess it's like how magic can affect invulnerable Superman - it's magic. Al B. can try and codify it as an unknown energy source but it's always going to be just that little bit out of reach.

And that's why Lara can't duplicate it either, and probably can't stop it entirely. But she won't be totally oblivious to it either.

        Quote:
I don't think any character can be completely safe from malicious attack, no matter how powerful they are, without losing their dramatic edge. That's one reason it's so hard to write all-powerful heroes like Superman; either one has to dumb them down and give them artificial weaknesses or one had to really strain with a series of ever-more-implausable uber-foes to threaten them. I prefer characters with limits that have to flex more than their powers.

Lara actually has a lot more weaknesses than most of the Parodyverse heroes, and they're remarkably easy to exploit. But as part of her design, she's highly aware of her own weaknesses and shortcomings, and tries to avoid letting people take advantage of them.

For example, she can probably be affected by magic, albeit in unpredictable ways since might be able to absorb some of it or corrupt it with her own energy. But at the same time, she'll find you pretty quickly if you use it, because it's like firing energy in her direction. Her true edge isn't her power, it's her awareness.

At the same time though, she can soffocate, drown, or be poisoned by inhalants or chemicals dissolved in water, air, or food. She can be captured if you're quick and clever enough. She can be killed by a simple knife or bullet if you're tricky enough.

Lara has the advantage of having access to items that are out of the reach of most mortals, plus she can *touch* items that might be off-limits to the undead. Most of such items would be highly prized, so her talent may be worth something.

          Quote:
I'm not sure she'd want to do a deal with the devil, though. There's too often a nasty catch.

In that case it depends how high the price for NOT making a deal would be.

            Quote:
She's probably on "standby" at least, looking to see if any trouble develops, since the Lair Legion won't be around to answer the call. And possibly looking for signs that someone's going to cheat and either bring down the Lair Legion or help the WNC excessively during the contest.

There's plenty of corners of the Parodyverse that bear watching.

          Noted.
