He's actually made that other classic villain mistake of Underestimating His Opposition. More on that next issue as it's clobberin' time.
> > > Liu Xi has learned to control her temper after all. Her response was angry yet patient and very controlled, so the Void Scholar never saw it coming.
> > She's learned to bide her time and simmer.
> That's most likely because the last few times she let her temper go it didn't go so well for her. She's learning to wait for the right opportunity. Of course imminent threat of death may change that.

I suspect this is a different kind of rage, not as a reaction to one event but a growing realisation of an abiding wrong.
> > > The side question is, of course, how close Liu Xi and Danny have become.
> > I deliberately left the level of intimacy between Danny and Liu Xi vague.
> Are you leaving that for a tie-in or is that something for your next story post?

It's not something I'll address. I'd say that Danny still has feelings for Kerry, but may feel that getting back to her is not feasible. However, he's willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve his goals, so he at least would be willing to roleplay a romantic or physical relationship with Liu Xi to put one over on the Void Scholar.
In his own way Danny is as ruthless and more worldly than the Doomherald.
> > I'm fairly sure that as tactical office Yuki's got a plan for taking down pretty much any known metahuman, or at least an idea where to start.
> In Liu Xi's case Yuki's primary plan is to make her feel guilty. Failing that, Liu Xi is only human. Also note that Yuki has the same primary plan for Anna.

Psychological attack can be very effective.
> > The Chronicler's not working for the Void Scholar. He did his job and set in place measures to prevent Danny accessing cosmic levels of power so he can't become the Moderator.
> It sure may seem to everyone concerned like he's aiding the Void Scholar. He may be in for trouble on that basis.
|
Well, the measures were set in place by the Chronicler and Lisa. As to whether the obvious reason was the only reason, who can say?
