> And the surprises just keep coming for Hallie.
It was too good an opportunity to miss.
> Samantha is definitely Liz Shaw to Magweed's Jo Grant.
I suspect Sam, Mags, and Griff are respectively Lawful Good, Neutral Good, and Chaotic Good, but I'm not entirely sure yet.
> And yes, between Dream, Yuki, Yo and the Shoggoth, Hallie isn't the only one who's sort of straddling the defining line of humanity.
We ask a man's condition, not the accident of his creation.
> I see Dream has still failed to recruit Shrike to heroism.
And Shrike has failed to recruit Dream to mercenary status.
> Nice reminder of how smart Al B. is - until the Shoggoth gets involved, he can almost outwit a mind-probe and rewrite.
It seemed disrespectful to the character that he wouldn't have worked out a work-around.
> Nice solution by the Shoggoth and Uhuna, by the way.
It allowed me to play to the Shoggoth's strengths while he still retained his human condition.
> Minor bug fix - you refer to Cromlyn at least twice as "Garrick."
I'll go back and check that next.
> And HOLY SHIT, good for you, Garrick, for finally reading one of the rules in the Evil Overlord list, although I have my doubts about Cromlyn's death.
Garrick doesn't really like metahumans of any kind. He's do it to all if them if he could.
> Good to see Drury's ethics winning out, regarding Anna, as well as his enthusiasm at getting to beat up Nazis, yet again.
He's a straight joe in the world's dirtiest job.
> Thungore and Glumkeep are awesome for adhering so loyally to their genre tropes.
I'm expecting casting suggestions next.
> Yet more fascinating backstory for the lighthouse, expertly deduced by Champagne.
She's a really useful narrative engine.
> And, wow, saving the entire dying lands, that's gonna cancel out a lot of karmic debt for a lot of people, if we can actually do it.
There are still a few technical issues - and one very powerful adversary.
> "Dying Realms Under a Dying Sun" might be a Dead Can Dance song; they're very well-done folk goth musicians.
Sadly we've already done LL: The Musical.
> Interesting contrast between the Empress and Yo, in terms of the relative strengths of faith that's compelled versus faith which is freely given.
When I originally planned this arc I decided Yo had better be the "returned" character. Then Bill showed up and expressed an interest in Nats playing so I added him as well. This is my guilt-payment at dragging Yo in then switching the focus to someone else for a while.
> And Mumphrey the veteran vampire hunter gets to keep his skills fresh.
Mumph tends to like the "plan F" route for big battles, so it makes sense he'd take the "go by a roundabout root to the heart of the problem" approach. It's the same kind of tactical thinking we saw in the final battle against the Parody Master.
> Looking forward to more!
Each one gets us nearer to a conclusion.
