One of the advantages of the Parodyverse as a long-term shared story setting is the ability to draw on history that has some resonance. Another advantage is that we don't neccessarily have to stick with the status quo all the time. We can have some genuine change. That helps the stories have a sense of progression - because there's actual progression.
