A long while ago, if you recall, Scott was going to put the entire PVB behind him forever and take the road to professional writer. He even emailed me asking me to remove a bunch of posts with his characters in it. I can't say for certain because I wasn't told in as many words, but it seemed to me Scott's intentions, since he wanted all his characters to vanish, were to disappear like he was never here. I've heard the reasoning for that - people who try to become professional writers often believe they won't be taken seriously unless they appear to have always been professional - i.e. no free contributions to online forums without some kind of literary or industry reputation. In other words it's probably safest to assume that anyone who has left the board for an extended period, especially if they discourage the use of their characters leading up to that point, probably did so to "sweep up" before they leave. It's safer to assume they either won't come back or if they do, will resume nothing more than lurker status. That includes Bry, Nats, and Scott, and any of their associated characters. Without specific permission to use them, it's safer to assume they're off-limits and gone. Safer never to dig up and re-use again. Or at least that's how I see it, being someone who's gotten in huge trouble on this board before, and even with characters that are okay to use.
The only rules I have are to be aware that Keiko is in a different storyline (i.e. don't stick her in the PV for an extended time...like permanently extended time), and that Lara Night is a dual-use character so she probably won't be buying a house in Paradopolis or getting married there and settling down. Nothing really off limits though. | |||||||
