For God's sake, just call him Nick O'Time or something and be done with it. The story was too good and relatively important to let it go to waste.
Hell, make it a younger version of Wang. That'll add some strange layers into the narrative.
The characters you've written about have basically become your characters anyway, considering you've penned them more than anybody else. Stop being a worrywart and serve your audience. (I don't want to sound like a prick, but I will if I have to.)
