> > > I wonder if the Void Scholar knows that Liu Xi doesn't usually give much outward sign that her patience is wearing thin. She usually just takes it for a while and then loses her temper. His plan might be in jeopardy and he doesn't even realize it.
> > He's studied her very closely for many years and he thinks he knows her. His weakness is that he brings an academic's mind to the study, so he may understimate Liu Xi's heart. She's still developing, so past performance is not neccessarily a guarantee of future outcomes.
> That, and Liu Xi has been making a conscious effort to become a different person. She doesn't like what she was.

It's a fairly long arc we're doing with Liu Xi this time, but I hope all of this forms part of the pay-off.

> > > Liu Xi might also know of an extremely dangerous way to get around that: Pull pieces of Comic Book Limbo into another place until she finds the right one. It's not a desirable solution, but if she's motivated enough she can punish her grandfather by dumping chunks of broken cities into his realm so she can search them. \:\)
> > That's not really a winning strategy, given the infinite nature of the place. It's like dipping a teacup into an ocean to try and find a lost pebble - except that you might attract a shark.
> Desperate times call for desperate measures. It's Liu Xi's only clue right now, and she's not really willing to be a prisoner for an extended amount of time to rescue her friends.

She's not a prisoner. She's a protected guest.

> Besides, it's not all that futile and stupid. After getting a couple of broken cities dumped in his back yard, maybe her grandfather will decided to cooperate.

I think it would merely tip him to the fact that Liu Xi isn't 100% behind his programme.

> > > > Remember that traditionally a Madonna - literally a mother - is used to refer to the parent of a remarkable child.
> > > True, but who knows what Liu Xi's kids will be like?
> > The Void Scholar.
> She may never have kids now.

Possibly.
