> As I was reading through Vinnie's corrupted thoughts, there was one thing not present - that above all the hatred from his family, and his difficult life, he does have someone who cares for him and would be quite upset if he offed himself - Liu Xi.

I'm not sure how deeply Vinnie feels for Liu Xi. He fancies her for sure, and he likes her a lot, and that might grow into real affection, but so far they're just good friends.
> It's a very interesting thought, because it shows just how selfish a suicidal person's thoughts are. They never really consider who would really miss them, and what they're doing to the people who love them and care. Sure, there are people who don't have anyone, and who really are hated or unknown, but the majority of suicides leave behind someone who carries the event with them forever, and probably quite a lot of guilt too. The guilt of "maybe I could have done something".

There is a frame of mind like that, which filters out the good and only allows the negative, and which supresses the thoughts about what would happen to others if one died. That's what I was trying to capture.
> That makes those suicidal thoughts artificial - because it's really the only time you would purposely eliminate those who care about you from your thoughts when death is imminent. During a disaster, instead, you do think about and worry about all the people you're going to leave behind.

It certainly makes suidice a passing tendency. Of those who unsuccessfully attempt suicide only 6% thereafter go on to actually do it.
> On a related note, that was a close enough call that Vinnie may have to bring Liu Xi with him, both as a reminder, and because Liu Xi went through and got over her dark thoughts stage earlier, and is therefore less prone to that kind of suggestion.

I suspect Vinnie is reluctant to drag Liu Xi into more danger so soon after his last request of her.
